Resistances.
Some sub races have elemental resistances as bonuses (i.e. Azer/Tiefling).
Now are those resistances TRUELY natural? Or are they given in the form of minor resist
feats? If I were to TAKE a minor resistance feat (5- Fire for example) will it combine with the azer 10- Fire to become 15? Or will it simply use the greater of the 2 and be 10-?
Scrolls.
Do spell focuses effect spells cast from scrolls as it would ones cast from memory?
Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help.
Resistances and Scrolls
Re: Resistances and Scrolls
Resists don't stack it just uses the highest one. Immunities do though.
Scrolls do take focus bonuses in account but are cast as the level of the scroll.
a lvl 40 ESF necro wizard with a +15 int mod casts FingerofDeath(13) scroll will cast as a 13th lvl wizard vs spell resistance and 1d6+13 dmg but have a 38dc .
durations and such will also be effected by scroll level

Elemental resists stack differently than physical resists. (Don't listen to alka )
The feats Resist Energy and Epic Energy Resistance do stack with non-feat forms of elemental resistance, which include resists from items, spells, and racial resists.
Those two feats do not stack with each other, but you can take multiple Epic Energy Resist feats of the same elemental type and they will stack.

As for scrolls, Spell focuses do apply. If you cast true seeing from a scroll and have epic divination focuses, it will give you +30 spot. I actually don't know if it improves spell dc, but keep in mind that the defualt spell dc on a scroll is 13+ spell level no matter how much int, wis, or cha that you have.

Re: Resistances and Scrolls
Azer and Tiefling race + EER/RE don't stack... what do you mean Rufio? I know this cause i've built it and it defenitely didn't stack.
Aasamir and genasi have immunity that stack perhaps that is your malfunction?
Default dc 13+spell level? It's 10+spell level.
Rufio you gotta stop eating them toadstools they're terrible for you.

Re: Resistances and Scrolls
I am quite sure Azer's 10/- fire stack with EER 10/- fire. Not sure about Tiefling those, but I believe they function the same wayAlkapwn wrote:Azer and Tiefling race + EER/RE don't stack... what do you mean Rufio? I know this cause i've built it and it defenitely didn't stack.

Default dc 13+ ? like a rogue using umd (no mods)? it would be 11-19 dc depending on spell level. +mods if the reader was eligible for them.
Re: Resistances and Scrolls
If the scrolls were used by the right class, then the caster's DC will override the default DC of 13+spell lvls. For example, if a wiz uses a wail scroll, the DC will be 10+9+int mod of wiz+spell focus, but if a rog uses the same scroll, the DC will only be 13+9=22Rufio wrote:Elemental resists stack differently than physical resists. Yeah, for scrolls. http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/ScrollAlkapwn wrote:

I don't see anything about when wizards use wizard spells on scrolls getting 10 + spell level + int there. I'm not saying that is wrong though, I haven't tested it.
As for the energy resists stacking: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Epic_energy_resistance
Azer and tiefling bonuses, if they work how I think they work, are applied to the skin of the race, meaning they are essentially wearing invisible items with those bonuses on it, so the energy resists should work the same as say, a cloak with an energy resist on it. Now, items with energy resists will not stack with energy resists on a creatures skin, so maybe that is what you are thinking of?

Re: Resistances and Scrolls
For the spell scrolls, I have tested it before. But it doesn't matter that much, since most of DC spells are also subject to spell resist. They could be much useful for pre-nerfed bigbies, but the new bigbies need high caster lvls to be efficient.

Any confirmation on this from a Dev perhaps?
Racial resists working as items, stacking with feats but not other items? Or Vice versa?
And I appreciate all the responses guys. Thanks a ton.

Re: Resistances and Scrolls
Racial resists are on skin, iirc, if it works that way bio, should work that way NS.Tobias wrote:Any confirmation on this from a Dev perhaps?Rufio wrote:
