ECL 3 races

There are only 4 ECL 3 races: Drow, Githyanki, Githzeria, Svirfneblin. Of the 4, Githyanki is evil only.

At present TC is allowed to make:
Drow
Githzeria
Svirfneblin

NC is allowed to make:
Drow
Svirfneblin
Githzeria

SL is allowed to make:
Drow
Githyanki
Svirfneblin

MA is allowed to make:
Drow
Githyanki
Githzeria
Svirfneblin

AO is allowed to make:
Drow
Githyanki
Githzeria

RK is allowed to make
Svirfneblin

If drow was changed to evil only that would leave TC and NC with just Githzeria and Svirfneblin. Whereas SL keeps it's 3 ECL 3's, and MA keeps it's 4 ECL 3 options. I do not see how limiting TC and NC to 2 ECL 3 races would balance the server.

If anything RK needs another ECL 3 race to balance the server.

I do not understand the request to change drow to evil...seems to me that would unbalance the server. If it is for RP reasons...then for RP reasons SL should be Drow only! :evil:

NC can have Githz with Neutral Good. Githz is Neutral only restriction.

lol why should SL be drow only for rp reasons? have you read the NS4 documentation? the SL realized they couldnt take the 6 other faction on alone so decided to allow evil non drow into their faction....... in other words there using them a typically drow and evil thing to do simply because it suits them to.

But i agree with your other point RK certainly should get 1 if not 2 new ecl 3 races for sure, right on the money there.

Jmana you missed the point...Drow lore states that not all drow are evil...yet there are those that want it so. It is just as crazy to say for RP that all drow are evil as saying that SL can only have Drow builds.

Frankly, I do not see how a matriarch who decided to hire other mercenaries would have survived the upheval as such a decision would have caused. She basically admitted drow are not superior to other races and those drow in Aetheria were somehow inferior leading to the need for outside assistence.

NS4 documentation also states that the Drow's link to Lolth was weakened, yet Lolth is the only diety physically represented as a persistant NPC in Aetheria. How weakened could the link be if Lolth is just a portal away.

The Drow followers of Eilistraee are the largest group of good Drow, as Eilistraee is the patron goddess of all Drow that have a good alignment.

It has more to do with Drow pallies and CoT's then it does with RP. You are completely ignoring classes from this comparison. NC has 2x PRC. RK can make a ton of class combinations with that 1 svirf. SL has a PRC that is much weaker than the rest of the factions (especially in PvM).

Also, why are CoT's allowed to be non good?

It's not fair to compare the races without their class capabilities in a faction.

Torm God of: Duty, Loyalty, Obedience, Paladins

What is the common thread in the 4 words picked to describe this diety is...LAWFUL characteristics. Duty, Loyalty, and Obedience are traits LAWFUL alignments hold in common, whether they be neutral, good or evil. Paladins are LAWFUL good...Torm's goodness is only part of his essence...the other half is LAWFUL. I realize that playing LAWFUL is difficult and I have seen supposed LAWFUL builds are played more chaotic but that is very much a function that there are no laws to abhere to in a character since.

For example: a lawful character would not be out to slay any evil character just because they are evil...that is a Chaotic good trait. LAWFUL characters would wait until a LAW was broken before seeking retribution on said evil character.

LinuxPup, I was not suggesting RK receive an existing ECL3 race (Githzeria, Githyanki or Drow) but that a dwarf ECL 3 race be created that was available to RK and those factions that have less than 4 ECL 3 options.

What is so wrong with Drow paladins?

As far as ignoring classes, the call to make CoT good only and make drow evil only ignores that NC is not allowed to have wizards and sorc. Not only does that cause NC to be devoid of a arcane caster options but also prevents NC from making Monk/sorc/AA builds or Monk/mage/AA builds. NC's ally also can not make a Monk/sorc/AA or Monk/Wiz/AA. So 2 factions are unable to make this high AC archer.

However, SL, MA, AO are able to. How is that balanced?

SL is able to make War domain clerics. War domain special ability: The Cleric gains a bonus of 1 + 1 per 5 caster levels to dexterity, constitution, attack rolls and damage. As well, the cleric gains damage reduction twice this amount. The effect will last for 5 rounds + Charisma modifier. This domain is helped by high cha which also makes divine might and shield attractive option to include. So not only does build benefit from longer duration War domain ability but also in higher AC and divine damage.

30 levels of cleric would be able to add +7 to dex, con and attack rolls as well as 7 damage reduction. If the build is a dexer 30 cleric/1 sorc/ 9 AA that is possible +14 to attack rolls if the builds dex is not already maxed out by items. So this build able to wear the +6 dodge boots instead of dex boots, or the crafted +5 dodge +3 dex and +3 regen ones since able to max out dex using feat. War domain gives added spells of Cats and Aura of Vitality which allows this build to max dex and con just using abilities and opens gear options not available to others...

CoT offers a little bit more in ab, damage, but does not have access to quality of self buffs as a cleric does...aura vs alignment etc. Also the war domain cleric can be used to make melee builds, adding many build options. I believe that war domain clerics are the poor man's version (lack of a better phrase) of the CoT. (Yes a CoT build could be built with cleric levels but a good CoT would have mostly CoT levels which lowers the quality and increases the dispellability of their cleric buffs.)

All factions except TC and MA are able to create protection domain clerics.

How does kean senses make a drow paladin unbalanced?

Kean senses only is affective against those that hide...SD's and corner sneakers.

A paladin is cross skilled in spot. That means a paladin (pure or one without a spot class multied in) is limited to 21 skill ranks in spot. With SF: spot and ESF: spot the build reaches 33 spot. Yes NC has the Holy Symbol token which gives +20 to spot so total of 53 spot, self buffed. Unless the paladin multi-classes a spot class then the paladin is not going to spot a well built SD, assassin, or corner sneaker.

How is drow paladin having kean senses any different than a moon elf paladin, wild elf paladin, sun elf paladin in regards to kean senses?

Lol i cant even believe that this is being considered. It makes utterly no sense for server balance if you take away drow as a good class.

Do drow clerics still blind themselves with their own spells?

Me thinks the devs should focus on jobs and quest related stuff, that make players happy. Changing more things in the name of "balance" is the last thing the server needs right now.

Is 5 players on a weekend to many for the server to handle? If it is then by all means keep on changin!
