A twist to the relic event

Post by TheEdge »

Had a thought on an event to hold after the traditional relic event and would like some feedback from the players.

“Capture the flag”

Level’s- 40 only

Teams: One team per Faction

Location: undetermined

Summary: Preset teams 4-8 players in each team sign up for the event one week ahead. On the date and time of event a Relic/flag is dropped. Teams must stay in the preset location. Duration of event is 1-2 hours. Winner is determined by which team was able to hold onto the relic the longest for a cumulative total.

Pots/Heal Scrolls/Heal Kits will not be allowed

Heal spells are allowed for teammates only

No dual logging

Feedback?

So each faction team is droped a flag and must remain inside the designated area?

Area selection will be key, 6 zones that match the others in reguards to access and defendability.

Our teams then send out group to attempt to take the other relics? Or is the attacking left to the general population?

Will the areas for each last stand be announced or will diviners and scouts be used?

I think it would be a fun idea. Some factions are inherently put at a disadvantage in this style of event. I think the easiest way to tinker with this is to hold a test run in smaller scale this weekend (wink wink I have this weekend off *chants* event event event). Its much easier to find out the ins and outs of an event after its been run once, even if on small scale. I dont think factional allies should be allowed, been die'n to get out my binford 3900 series twin turbo wood chipper and head to twiggy's neck of the forest for a visit.......

My fears are that in a "hold the flag" style event, we will have hipsers grabbing a flag, getting buffed, and hiding in a corner. This kinda play is smart, but doesnt encourage pvp and will likely lead to a small turn out.

HIJACK ALERT!!!!!

P.S. Get rid of elemental hipsers all together. Hips is already great, why do we need to allow huge sized, uncritable, epic dodging, crip striking forms to it?

JACKED!! apologies hehehehehe

To clarify there will be only "one" relic/flag not multiple. This is how the winner is dertermined by which team is able to hold the flag for the longest cumulative total.

Location I am leaving open to sugestion at this point. My thoughts is an area that is restricted to 1-3 maps. My forst thought was initialy to hold the event in Never Summer City. (Barring of course any buildings and such)

Regarding the exclution of HIPS'ers and hiders my thought again was to allow as this would require some thoughts with each faction on who to sign up for their party. I.E. spotters as well as Bards for curses and such that will bring a hipser/hider to view.

If a HIPSer/hider is somehow able to find themselfs a corner that no one is able to find for say 5 min then a DM could instate a perverbial "Shot Clock" and when expired that hipser will be pulled to the center of the map again this required to re attemopt to hide.

(I love playing hipsers myself but I will be the first to tell you that they have deffinate weakneses and cannot hide forever. damn you AA builds..lmao)

End result the idea for this event is for all of you and I will take into concideration all of your ideas.

If a team is dumb enough to not bring spotters, then they deserve to lose.

So will there be six staging points for the factions with a central map where they can expect to find the flag?

Or a central staging point resulting in a combined skirmish and hunt from the word GO?

Ohh and Twig wants a ban on modern era equipment, aka Burra.. stick your Binford where the sun dont shine, for a vissual go with Bruce Almighty and the 'Anal dwelling butt monkey' scene

I vote for taking the flag out of the picture all together and making it a team death match of sorts. first to 4 victories wins. We play a form of capture the flag already on a day-to-day basis, lets change it up.

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of 1 faction vs another in like a round-robin tournament or something.

That could be done as well. As a separate event. Not hard to put together at all.

Just to clarify this a cleric for example can run around healing any teammate but can not cast a heal on its self?

So AOE heals like mass heal would be out as they heal the caster also.

As for location if you die shouldn't it be close to a bind point so you can spawn and get back in the action with out too much of a delay?

True, but running around different maps with spotters looking for a hidden character while being chased by the rest of his team doesn't sound like fun to me. Make the flag carriers a non hipser and its problem solved. Or, if you die your out, but then that negates the timer.

A 6 way battle wouldn't work, it would still end up being ma/sl+tc/nc attacking ao/rk until they are done, then, ma/sl getting DESTROYED by tc/nc, followed by tc getting ran through my binford 3900 series wood chipper. So we already know that NC would win, discussion over. :D
I all seriousness, that's basically just a last man standing event, we already have those. I think hipsers win every last man standing event i have been in. Most spotters are just too easy to kill.

I'll be happy with whatever, I just hate hipsers.

Looking forward to whatever you decide. (and whining if i dont get my way)

No a cleric can heal himself as well as ther team mates. What I dont want to see is an AO toon healing a RK toon or a NC toon healing a TC toon ect....

As to location I am still leaving that up to discusion.

Course if this becomes a traditional event *wink wink...... The first event could be held in a nuteral location. The winning Faction then has rights to hold the next in their home town for Home court avantage so on and so on......
