I'm sure this has been asked many times, but are there some places better than others for farming books? I want to spend some time just farming for the things.

aannnnd thats about it. I've gotten my 2 +4s in Posi plane and fire plane, other books mostly from ogres.

The one book I've ever gotten was going up to Ogre Pass, so yeah.

I don't believe that there is any one good place. It is just that the more drops you get, the more chances you have at getting books, but you have to be fighting against something sufficiently high CR (like CR 6+ or so). I don't think animals will drop them.

CR minimum is a definate point.

Chests may also contain books, so a rank of OL with gloves, rings, n lock picks is advisable.

I have another question on books. Even though it permanently increases an ability, is it considered the same as gear you wear to modify an ability? That's what it seems, when I look at my saved character's abilities it doesn't include the book bonuses. The reason I ask is I want to know if for feats that have ability prerequisites, do points gained from books count? So if a feat requires dexterity of 17, and I have 17 but 2 is from a dex book, does the feat determine I have 17 dex or 15 (and thereby be unavailable to me)?

its a permanent ability boost that raises your chars base stats. it should show up on your char sheet with no gear applied.

Okay thanks. I'll have to look at his base stats again. I know one of his his stats in the game showed 23 with +6 so his base would be 17, but I'm sure that it was 15 in the exported file. Maybe the book bonus doesn't apply when you export, I don't know.
