It is known and we are watching!!!

Those that choose to attempt a repeat a PK after originally PK'ing someone while the dead toon is attempting to respawn will be subject to a auto Boot/Ban as well as a 2k exp reduction penalty. Be advised we know how this is done and will be watching.

Those that don't know how this is done or what I am talking about please dont worry about this. Those that do understand, this will be an inforced rule and will be done.

One thing that makes this very tricky in active group pvp is the respawn animation is almost identical (if not exactly identical) to someone getting RD'ed or rez'ed. If they're getting rezed then their HP total will also match, making it even harder to tell the difference in those first crucial moments when they're still unbuffed and vulnerable. I'm usually careful to avoid what you're talking about, but with invis'ed clerics running around or hipser clerics running around, in active pvp scenarios, it is very hard to know if someone is respawning or getting raised (and therefore a valid target).

I think it would be great if the devs did something to change the respawn animation, I dunno, make it more flashy, that would really help avoid misunderstands that sometimes occur. And then you can freely ban/penalize the folks who still try to pk during a respawn. :)

Can you actually kill people like that? I have definitely attacked respawning characters thinking they were being raised before, but I just assumed they were invulnerable in those moments before they disappear or something.

they should be flagged as invuln, unless something changed or someone found a neat way to mess it up :)

Invulnerable is what I thought I have seen people respawning get hit by crossfire but I've never seen it do any damage to them.

we used to have lots of problems with players doing things while they were respawning or players doing things to others to keep them from respawning in order to grief them.

Yeah I thought it was like tep said. In fact, i autoattacked someone respawning the other day, I didn't click on them as far as I know- i think they were spawning while combat was going on around.

It sounds like what Edge is talking about is more than that, though, and whoever should be concerend knows who they are.

What I have seen is that you can glitch the char, which leaves them an invincible "ghost" until they quit/rejoin, at which point they die again, and when they respawn a second time they lose XP. I think (?) this is what Tep is talking about. I had assumed that was what Edge was talking about also.

Certain things still cause this event

1. KD's of any type when the toon is respawing
2. Ice Storm
3. summons AoA's and your char automatically returns with a AoA pulls you out of respawn sequence

this didnt bring this tread on but Zerg, remember the other day when you was fighting my mage and the barb in your relic room
you was spamming ice storm i went to respawn and it pulled me out, just an example, not like my mage has a ton of xp
didnt bother me none, but yes, the event still happens quite more often than expected

Pulled you out? And yes I remember but was I was quite busy fighting the barb so dident see what happend to you.

So I guess ill avoid respawning when nasty AOEs are going off in a fight happing by my dead body.

You aren't invulned if respawning in the same area (transitions check for plot, immortal and cutscene).

Bril and I argued a lot about how to do it, there's a few flags dms get spammed with and annoyed by in the method. I suppose one of us could dedicate a few hours to separating respawn out of the general port around code (transitions and such), but it's tedious and needs endless testing that won't happen and can probably still get beaten by key mashing like most other things.

Obviously exploits of this nature mean you get to find a new server to play on if I see them, I wish our dms weren't so nice.

I was involved in battle near the Beryn dragon and had been killed and during the melee tried to respawn but was autoattacked by a nearby PC enemy and as such was killed again and lost XP, checked with the player and was assured that it was not intentional, "seems
hazard of combat". and played on.... but it still stings.... ;)

if you bigsbies a respawning char the bigbies should follow them off screen and hit them at the shard... dont know if it was changed, but very funny :D
