On Saturday, PWnD hosted a small impromptu event from about 8pm to 11pm CST. It was a simple premise where players “signed-up” to challenge the current champ. The initial bout was won by Sebastian (Doc Rufio). He did great and held the ring for 4 consecutive wins. Shamed [FON] and Painfynder SYN also faired well winning a few bouts each. Balmung and Archael were worthy competitors as well as Sasquatch, Donk, Follower of DragonFlames, Torres and others who I’ve embarrassingly (but not intentionally) omitted.
The Grand Champion was Gein ::DD:: as he held the ring for 8 consecutive wins before Painfynder was finally able to take him down with a great fight.
The unfortunate finale was Painfynder’s demise to my Harper Scout! Oh My! (But I think he let me win.)
Once again while organizing, I did a lousy job of grabbing screenies so feel free to post them here in your replies.
I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who participated. If I forgot your name pls send me a PM. I’ll update the list when I get home from work. Oh and thanks for being good sports. We had a great time. Fun to see some of the builds in action. Special thanks to Shamed, Crazy and Archael (Rogue2x) for your help and encouragement. Hopefully we’ll try another event this weekend (or next). I’ll try to announce it ahead of time so that others who were unaware can participate.
Grats again to Gein ::DD::

Yeah, I had fun. The event was a really nice break from all the level grinding, and it was just as fun to watch as it was to participate in.

I didn't let nobody win, unless you count not using heals to extend the fight. After the lengthy cleric battles with Shamed and Gein, I was sick of healing lol, more fun to see if I could kill your harper straight up.Chernobyl_Glow wrote:

Thanks guys. It was really fun to put that toon to work. He was designed for 1v1 battles so i'm glad he could cut the mustard so to speak.
Really fun Glow and co. Keep those player events comin and let me know if I can do anything to help out at the next one.
PS yeah the 3 fights vs Painfinder really took its toll on me. the spagetti arm endings were hillarious

'twas great. Fighting as a level 25 is very hard though

Things we must hold the DMs to.
TBC....nc would get hulking hurlers first.

Re: PWnD 1v1 “King of the Hill” Event
Ya. Able, my Harper Scout, is sort of "cute". Even though he's got the HUGE disadvantage of being a Harper he is one of my favorite builds. Thanks for the build idea. He really rocks vs SD's though. That's when he's at his best. I guess I could have healed Able but I don't typically have his cures slotted. I guess I should. Its becoming the tactic 'de jour' of late.
And speaking of that you bring up a good thought topic. We all agree that in PVP or Relic fight etc that Healing is perfectly fine. Its war and war has no rules. Therefore, I didn't make a staedfast rule against heals in the event. I feel its unfair to say "No Healing" because as far as a Cleric is concerned that be equivalant to telling a fighter, "You can participate but No Knockdowns. K?" Its a key part of the build.
So, I didn't discourage healing in the event which led to a couple of long battles where onlookers endured much healing from both sides. Fair fights but simply longer due to the extra heals.
Like most things the sweet spot is lost somewhere in between. What is that spot? Should we take a similar line to the one that Tep established in the Thunderdome event? 3 heals to each participant of any sort: Kits, Potions, Scrolls, Rings or Spells. Maybe we should allow Cleric 3 and everyone else just 1. Either way, we still want a Clerics to have an advantage.
Are there other suggestions? If not I'll probably just set the limit at three. That seems fair. And if you're using a summons you'd have to choose to either heal the pet or yourself with the same limit of three.
Another thing that came up too once we decided that we'd limit to three, Shamed had one of his attempts disrupted. Should that count? What about if a caster counters an attempt. Same there? I personally think it should.

Re: PWnD 1v1 “King of the Hill” Event
Yeah, the healing question is a good one. I agree that it is ok for clerics to cast a few heal spells, it is an important part of what clerics do, but clerics have the ability to cast A LOT of healing spells, as we saw in the event. In my fight with gein I pretty much knew I was toast before it ever started because all Sebastian can really do is swing around a scythe, and with as much damage as I could do, clerics can heal more. The only way I could have won is if I was able to soak all of his offensive spells, but there was no way I could have avoided his ice storms without hitting up my mules for cold and bludgeon resist items.
In my fight with shamed, I was nearly killed by his damage shield just because with all the healing he was able to soak a massive amount of damage, I was only fortunate that he didn't have more no-save damage spells slotted and I was able to regen hp fast enough to run around a bit between attacks to keep myself alive, and even then I was only really able to kill him once his damage shield dropped.
