Planar Areas

Post by LinuxPup »

I haven't been in game for a while so I was wondering how Abyss, Celestia, and House of Knowledge are going. Are they too difficult, too easy  , or just right?

House of Knowledge is great Although the Living Lexicons are harder than the 2 minor bosses IMO.
Abyss seems pretty balanced . The Trumpeter guys in Celestia seem a little OTT though.

I would agree with Alka on his assessment. There have been a lot of parties in each of the areas of late, and it has been good times. Celestia might need some slight scaling of power, but otherwise they all seem great fun.

IMO - Sar'kyn on the other hand could use some heavy scaling back. 3 times been on that with competent parties and only survived, won once by the skin of the teeth. His friends in the room alone make it nigh impossible if you aren't lucky.

Both Celestia and Abyss have been beaten.

The trumpets can be a pain, but theyre easily dealt with if you know what youre doing.
The Lexicons in HoK have an easy trick to them if you know how to do it.

The minotaur boss in HoK is especially hard because that area is EXTREMELY small. The Archmage is a pain to get to because of the orbs.
Celestia is definently much harder than Abyss that is for certain. Any of the places can be done with the right party though. I would have to disagree with the original HoK assessment of 25-35 and put it more to a 30-40 area.

EDIT: P.S. I like HoK better when it was in development and I could KD all the monsters ';)

Celestia and Abyss have been beaten? Wow... and nobody claimed the reward I was offering a long time ago to be the first group? I want screenshots! :D No DM intervention I assume.

It's such a "day" project with party members coming and going. In many ways, its not fair to screen shot a winning party when so many come and go over hours at a time.

The Minotaur boss was going to be tougher... I was thinking of implementing a "Maze" spell where he could trap you in another maze if you failed a save. That would be funny. I think players would lose it if that happened after going through the previous one.

It sounds like you guys need a hint for the orb puzzle...

The thing with the trumpeter he seems to rest everytime he kd's the party . I got hellballed 10 times in a row by one trumpeter. I've noticed that alot of the casters are trying to rest mid battle lately. especially when they get kd'd or run out of spells

I think abyss was easier than celest. We took a party of around 8 to take out abyss and i dont even want to tell you how many it took for celest. The end guy in abyss should be scaled up, he is easier than draco.

Abyss was easier than Celestia except for maybe that miniboss that almost wiped us out. Anyway what's the prize Linux?? We beat both back to back in two nights and then got slaughtered on the bridges of DWP (with much fewer people) because with the spacing from 1.69 you can't run by a single mob (shriekers) and only about 2 people can fight a mob at a time cuz the rest can't reach it :(

Here's the thread with the screenies. We had no DM assistance or intervention.

Oh and as far as the orbs go, I think we need a hint as to which direction is 1 or 12.

yeah the mini boss was actually harder then the final one in abyss, although i loved the whole final boss sequence, was fantastic. still getting some lag from some of the mobs there, think it has something to do with the fire aura on some of them.

hehe was disappointed when there wasn't a similar shout out like the one from killing G1

Hehe I thought you might post Tru3. If you have more screenies you can add them to that other thread. I can upload them if you need as well.

I have to agree. The shout from G1 is awesome.

As for the orbs in HOK. I think one of us HAS figured it out. Giving a hint to rest would kind of negate a bit of her brilliance. Give it a few more weeks before a hint.

As for party members, if ya gotta go then ya gotta go. But there is little chance for running in to meet a party that's deep in Celestia. Heck it requires a run through the White Lord's room just to get started. So only way to get there is with a committed party that is in it for the long haul. We had to plan the run to Celestia.

IMO, the only thing that needs immediate attention in Celestia is this: We all know that the KD/push from whatever that is can get ya stuck. ok. no problem. Except in Zaphkiel's room and the Platnum Dragon room it can actually push you behind the locked doors. Then there is no way to get you out other than recall or respawn. If the doors could be opened from the inside but still not allowed to transition back through then that would help a lot. It can also happen when you all rush into the room at once (like in many other places in Aetheria) just in Celestia you can't open the door to join the others. Just my thoughts.
