Next.... Sunday! sunday! SUNDAY!!!!

Post by DM_Kim »

You heard it here folks. Next Sunday at 10 PM Eastern there will be a Race Around The World and Back. Take the Fastest foot tour of Atheria ever held.

The Start:
Will be in the Grave Yard in Shara Valley just outside the South Gates of Daeron.

The Run:
The course will be defined. Racer will be taking the scenic route from the Shara Valley, through the Arnoth Mountains and on to Hallowtop. Does the race end there? No way.
Racers will continue through Beryn and on through the Sleeth Foothills taking them to the Ancient Road. Old ruins is what they will bare witness to as the fly onto the Ogre Pass and dive through Dark Forest as they make their way to Avendell crossing. Along the Silver Center Road Travel way, past Neversummer and onto the Crossing the racers will travel as they make their way to the Underdark by Redhorn Pass.

Next, these brave souls will tempt the Formains in their home as the disrupt the Hive just before they emger from darkness into the bright sunlight of the desert sands in the Wastes of Agmar. All too soon they will find themselves speeding across the greener pastures of the Plains of Agmar on their way to the gates of Garagoth.

As they approach the gates, they may even think the race is over, but no to their surprise, the race continues but in reverse all the way back along the same course back to where it all started in the Graveyard in Shara Valley.

The Trick:
Along the way Racers will come into clearly marked zones ambush zones. If they dare, it is in these zones they can choose to attack one another. No one outside of the actual racers will be allowed to interfere in the Great Race Around the World and Back as these racers will have their hands full with what will be waiting for them along the way.

Requirement:
This race is open to all levels. The only requirement is that you must have Monk Class in your build, so any monk combo build or pure class monks are allowed. This one is for you.

The Rules:
No Boats - No Dragon Travel - No death and respawning to continue.
There will be no shape shifting by DM's on the racers. You run as you are. Self Buffs are allowed. Potions/Scrolls are allowed.
The only time you may attack another racer is in an Ambush Zone which will be clearly marked and there will be a few.
In these zones there will be more for you to worry about than other racers. So there is risk.
Die along the way by PK or PvM, there is no DM rezing and your out of the race.
Prizes will be revealed to the racers at time of start.

So if your good or you think your good, come and run for your life!!! We'll see you there if you dare.

Preferring to spend our time in the pursuit of knowledge rather than some knuckle-dragging base instinctual drive we of the Mystral Ascendancy will not be entering any of our faction in this 'race' (no monks allowed).

However this does not mean we do not enjoy watching lesser beings struggling for success in these barbaric contests. I myself have spent many an enjoyable evening watching the slaves being torn apart in the Colliseum in Sleeth. Of course these events can be made even more fascinating when there is a wager on the outcome - will anyone be running a book?

As my Grandma always said, "put your money on the one that empties their bowels just before the start".

Prepare your Wizards. Never know when a call for duty will be required of them. So study hard.

How about letting MA participate in the ambush zones, if they can't run as fast? :D

I dont see why a monk is necessary for this event. Blinding speed, or even haste will probably be good enough.

Simple. Last eve did a test with No Monks Allowed and transformed the races into various shapes. Next one like this, everyone may be chickens or penguins.

This is a prelude to various events of this type. So good participation encourages us to do more.

Do we have results on this? Some of us are too busy to be in game much and look forward to playing through the accounts of what happened in game. :-)

Actually yes. Unfortunately my notes disappeared, so I ask those who participated to PM with their PC names plz, so I can post.

Ghostly and I are working on a relay idea submitted by a player. This will be a tough one to design, stage and for the participants tough as nails. This one will be open to all classes. So watch for the "Greatest Relay Ever Run". When we have the details worked out, you'll know them too.

As per request. And thanks to the races for providing me with the information lost.

There were 4 Racers.
Laufer ::DD::
Shade IO
Meri IO
Cuquis

3 were speedsters with one of them being a jack rabbit. When the contestants saw Laufer ::DD:: they all but gave up hope. When the gun sounded and they took off, the action was hot and heavy. Laufer ::DD:: certainly show how much of a jackrabbit he was with a flying lead that just would not quit. UNTIL  an ambush zone. Being the first one in, he got targeted with the full brunt of the surprise there and was nailed to the ground never to get up again. The next two speedsters came in and the same happened, except for one who managed to out wit the ambush and keep on chugging on. Unfortunately the turtle of the race came into the ambush zone at an opportunistic time to draw fire from the ambush away from our event winner. While all 3 laid dead or dieing this one escaped the clutches this and of the following ambush and won.

Congrats to Cuquis for winning.

Thanks all, it was fun. I look forward to events, and this one was definetly unique. I don't doubt the time it took to plan this event took more time than the event itself.

Yeah?? Next race I'll hire you to run around with a paint can and small brush to paint all those route marker arrows. I'm still trying to get the red out from under my finger nails.
