Crits in dwarf home

Post by Fezz »

ok thought i would post about this because its gotten to the stupid stage. today while party in dwarves 3 of us got totally destroyed over and over by insane amounts of crits.

Here is an example - a dwarf lorewarden crit me 4 times in a row, then a normal hit followed by another crit. My party members were all subject to similar crit parties over and over. So it was not a case of unlucky on the roles, i went through 9 scrolls raising em and one was a cleric that raised about the same amount of times.

Anyone else have horror stories in there ?? noticed something fishy going on ?? post it so maybe a DEV can see if something got broken.

Also ive noticed a large increase in the number of crits in IOD as well, on the diamond (hammer) golems and the watcher (great axes) its certainly gone up since it was 1st put in. gone from maybe 1 or 2 hammer crits before he goes down to ive seen like 6 and 7. Both wpns are X3 easy over 100 + damage.

Anyway heard many ppl discussing it in game lately, thought i would post for some staff feedback.

the mobs are scripted to hate certain logins of annoying people, so if you have an annoying person in your party, they'll crit more :D

but seriously, it's all in your head...or in the way you play -- i can't remember the last time a lorewarden was even able to take a swing swing or cast at me, they are normally on their butt, cursed and dying before they have a chance.

I <3 "Random" Numbers.

Sometimes, these things, they happen, whether it's 10 crits in a row or 10 book drops in a row. There is no conspiracy...unless you're an ex-MD!!!

I do recall when the server got wiped and rebuilt we were on "easy" mode for awhile and you wouldn't even get AoO against you while drinking a potion. It didn't take the Devs too long to figure this out though so after they upped the difficulty level then mobs started critting again. I'm not sure if they have changed anything else to make these crits more effective but the mobs aren't nerfed anymore like they were right after the wipe.

Whether a creature crits or not is beyond the devs ability to change (its not scripted)... so you must have had the luck of the draw! :D

That's only because Fez is taking all the crits for you. He's taking all the random crits for us so we don't have to. Thank you Fez.

I don't know. I took 3 crits in four swings from Col Grimm with those stupid warhammers of his. On the two that happened in a row he rolled 4 twenties. I was sure that the stupid program had cached the rolls or something.

In hind sight, I've seen people do that in pnp and called it luck, but when a computer game does it, obviously there is some nefarious power at work or a glitch in the game. ;)

Besides, everyone knows that the DM's and Devs are all evil and malicious entities. I bet they're not even human. Probably programs that watched tron too many times and have now decided to play games with our emotions and pscyhe, rather than let us play games with them. Seriously, they're collecting information so that one day they can take over the world.

Too bad I'm an addict or I'd unplug my machine right now.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

I was there with Fezz, my CoT got punched to death by Cheery . . . . So unless she wears +6 gloves she should have no easy time getting damage through. Also the other mobs in there were pretty well tearing through my CoT damgae reduction over and over and over and over. When I made it outside (run/rest/retry) the dwarves out there would hit me for 5-10 damage, back inside ragnars room I was taking 30 damage hits. It was quite interesting to say the least.

certain elites now have a -ac aura that stacks with itself. if you move around you could end up with like no ac (ma red gas token used to do that too). that means billions of hits but also more crits. depending on the mob mix that could be why you got wiped out.
