Rumors
Rumors
I know some out there like to pretend that some players have "Special Rights or Privileges". I also know that some players like to believe that the staff treat them so so unfairly while other players are given the world. I know that some players out there like to speculate on how bad the staff is towards them and how great they are to others.
If you are one of these people I would suggest that instead of spreading rumors, stirring up controversy or trying to cause ill feelings towards the staff within the player community, you do as the smart ones do. Ask a DM either on these forums or through a PM.
The current controversy .
Seeing players with new named re-rolled PC's.
Yes the staff does re-roll PC's at times for various reasons which is 100% OUR BUSINESS AND NONE OF YOURS.
This 1 time I will afford you an explanation. The current re-rolls you have noticed is due to a technical issue where we are unable to "fix" the PC used in game. Only by creating a new PC is this current problem corrected.
This is being done to any and every PC that has been effected by this particular technical issue. So expect more. IT IS NOT A FAVOR BEING HANDED OUT BECAUSE WE JUST HAPPEN TO LIKE THEM. NO ONE ON THE STAFF IS STUPID ENOUGH TO SHOW ANY FAVORITISM WHERE ANYONE AND EVERYONE COULD NOTICE IT.
Besides that if anyone on staff pulled such an intentional stunt their services would be terminated. So use your heads and think before you spread untrue rumors.

......intresting turn of events......
The following would be a players prespective on your post.
Re-rolling someones pc the player base could care less about. Allowing that character to change from and ecl 0 lvl 30+ to an ecl 3 lvl 30+ is totaly your buisness.
But lets give all the facts.
On a side note, the "OFFICAL" NS4 stance last time i checked is that DM's never re-roll a PC. If you spent the time making that one you can spend the time making another. Unless ofcourse this has changed and now allows bugged characters in. Course this is a slipery slope.
Other side note. You only get punished for what you get caught doing. Thats why stuff like this shold always be brought to the attention of the head DM or DD to make sure its on the up and up. Thats my recommendation to players. See something funky report it. Dms have rules just like players. This is a good community to play in because there are checks and balances.

Re: Rumors
I believe this posts applys to me (probably not just me, I'm sure there are others.) Allow me to explain another player's perspective, not of the previous post, but about this topic in general:
Since the server wipe, there has been a crazy race to level 40. The players that participate in this race are the ones who are on all day and night, leveling their one toon. These are the most dedicated players on the server and I suspect that there are more than a handful that put more time into playing the game than some of the DM/Dev staff put into playing/doing their thing. These players have tabs on every toon out there, they know everyone's levels and they see who plays and for how long. Now after 2 weeks Urr finally gets his 40, and this dedicated group of players are all within a few levels of that. And we know who else is close and who else has put the time in.
On one occasion I was playing side by side with a tagged player of an enemy faction, exploring the new areas and gettin gear and xp. The next day I log in, I am playing with the same player, same tag, but the toon's name is slightly different. It's quite obvious someone got some form of treatment, but since the players have no clue what the actions/motives of the DM staff are, we can only speculate in small groups, without any sort of confirmation.
Now, a number of days later, I logged in this morn with my lvl 33 toon and joined my team in defence of the SL cradle. All of a sudden an Undead Lord player/raider, untagged, comes running by and hits me for 300 damage. Never even seen the name before. Never seen them leveling.
I will also admit to hearing a 'rumor' that some players would receive replacement toons at high level after the wipe once the first regular player toon hit 40, which happened a couple days ago... since that time, there have been more and more toons that are high level, that we, as dedicated players, KNOW did not level that character themselves. Again, the DM staff may have their reasons, but none of this was mentioned to the general public and therefore we are all left with speculation, wondering why we have spent the past 2 weeks playing 16 hours a day, while others seem to be getting a free lvl 30+ toon.
We aren't trying to cause dissention, nor are we trying to target any member of the DM staff (at least none of the players that I know). But the fact remains that we dedicate a crapload of time playing and to see another able to bypass that amount of leveling and time, put simply, feels unfair. For whatever reason. Especially because we are in the dark.
Back to the current post/topic... I find it insulting that after all of this, it was decided that this is the PLAYERS' fault for not inquiring about it in the proper fashion. Turning this around on the most dedicated group of your players is a slap in the face. Just because the staff wanted to keep some of their own actions under wraps from the general public, doesn't mean you can shovel it onto us. You say that it's none of our business and we say it's more of our business than yours, because we are the ones who have to fight them. You create a world around us and change it as you see fit and we play within that world. Everything you do is our business, at least if it affects us. That's why players get frustrated with a single lapse in the changelog. In order for us to comply and enjoy the world that you create, we need to know the changes and announcements that affect us.

Re: Rumors
I got my toon releveled. And I didn't change from ecl0 to ecl3. I don't know where did that come from. TC jobs were bugged after wipe. I did them at that time and got my char bugged. I was told not to worry and that it will be fixed. Was lvl 5 at that time. Almost entire TC faction had the same problem. At lvl 34 I was told that unfortunately they weren't able to fix it but that since deleting all toons of entire faction would be a bit drastic they will help us, me included. I just made a char with similar name and releveled in the same way I leveled it with 1st char.
I don't see the problem in it. Did I take anything from your gaming experience?
If I knew it couldn't be fixed at lvl 5 I would delete and restart. All that happened is that now I have same char with jobs done (had to redo them of course) with really bad name I had to make up in 20 sec.
You are angry because DM helped me with problem I had? I really don't see why would you want me to loose my lvl 34 char just for spite? Aren't DM's supposed to help people? Remember, it's not my fault jobs were broken, or some wrong calculation of mine. Why would I need to pay the consequences of software bug if it can be fixed easily?

Re: Rumors
Ok this was me as well. Same as above, i was bugged and couldnt complete the TC jobs. the DM tried to fix me and no it wouldnt work so i got a new toon. BTW its ECL 0 wild elf, same as my last risen lord - Hrux. The only difference is im a she now instead of a he.
Instead of complaining maybe you people could have just asked a dm what was going on, nicely in the confines of the DM channel? and since you want to talk about 16hr days leveling up. So did I, so why should i be forced to start at lvl 1 to get my +1 dex and wis from jobs through no fault of my own.
Its not like im buddy buddy with any DM's on here, in fact some of them even ignore me totally, thats fine, i speak and send my troubles to DM's that do talk to me. You need to remember this was not a case of oh wait I MADE A MISTAKE, dm can you let me make a new one so i can fix it. It was totally out of any players hands.

Re: Rumors
lol i could care less, aslong as the people at the head of the bus say its ok then its ok.
I think the ecl 0 to 3 thing came from a person who was human and then was deep gnome.
Thats not something you can debate, its obvious.

Re: Rumors
This has happened before, things go wrong, and a rebuild is the only solution. Get over it and move along - it will happen again too.
wonder if you'd start your lvl 30+ again and refuse a rebuild because "it aint fair to everyone else"
i think not little puppy

Do you know who it is? Don't say something you are not sure of. "I think" is not really a good start of a sentence when you are accusing someone of such a thing, be sure about it before opening your mouth!

Re: Rumors
I think a public announcement would have avoided this specific issue and all following 'rumors' or 'speculation'.
"If you have a bugged TC toon due to the job problems, please contact the staff in order to have the problem fixed. Players may be required to delevel or recreate their toons, at which point your lost experience will be restored."
Players become very wary after a wipe occurs (in any gaming community) and it's probably a good idea to keep your players informed about what is going on. It would be better to err on the side of caution, posting fixes and announcements for the masses to read, even if it may only effect a small percentage of players.

Re: Rumors
And I still don't understand what's the fuss about. You all hate me that much to want DM not to relevel my bugged toon? If such thing happened to any of you, I'd be first to hope you get help. I really dont understand. And making up that I made deep gnome and was human before. Please, I never hurt any of you, never made up any bad things about you. Don't hate!!

Re: Rumors
My post was directed to the staff, not to any specific players. No hating here for anyone, staff included. I'm just adding my $.02 so that we as a community can avoid confusion if possible.

Re: Rumors
the issue was looked into and solved.
at the time the staff had no way of knowing that fixing the jobs would bug the chars that did it. it happens, they got a free reroll of their exact pc. 1 was out of place, but the issue has been taken care of.
don't make me come to your house and drink all your Kool-Aid.
