criptic change logg

Post by Aarkon Draco »

IMO the change logg should be for facts and data on changes to the mod not setting up future events and making bizzare inuendoes. i appreciate the staff and all they do but things like the last two posts in the change logg should realy have a seprate thread perhaps a non spoiler logg? or a event thread as they have been in the past.

I appreciate your thoughts on this, Aarkon.

One of my goals as a Dev has been to further specialize the factions. Sometimes this means deliberate but intentionally vague improvements to them, specifically so that you guys take the time to check them out and see what you think. Other times I may wait until a certain event has been held in game (as with last night) before implementing the new feature.

I apologize if the recent additions are not as straightforward as the ones you are used to. As always, if knowledge of a feature's specifics is necessary, it will be detailed clearly in the change log; other times, it means we want you to explore :P .

heh.

sorry but i am also going to have to agree with Arkon Draco here :)

especially in relation to attempting to attract new players to the server --- new players to our server are instrutcted to come to the boards to learn about the technicallities/limits/unique tweaks that NS4 has to offer.... tainting the official server change-log can lead to chaos for new people....

in regards to people who are not new --- PWNED ! ... tho a more 'rp-esque' thread would suffice when it comes to releasing hints about changes......

but thats just my opinion ...

either way ... keep the well-thought-out-changes comming ! :D

but do not nerf clerics !!1! o wait... too late

i dont really mind myself. think about it this way: the changes could have -always- been rpesque, and then everyone would have to hunt for the exact information themselves in game...hes just a different dev, different way of doing stuff.

the confusion of the RP updates inspires curiosity in itself to go check whatever it is out though...

I already know what it means. It's not all that cryptic.

I'll give you a hint, it's an RK only bonus.

I have to agree with the original poster. As a rather new player I'm already behind a lot in knowledge about the world, about who's who, what are the important things to have in builds, what tactics to use in pvp and things like that.
Plus there are a ton of modifications and changes to the gameplay itself that you have to learn and get used to, now if there are changes that arent documented. It makes the new player job to learn and catch up even more difficult. While for the vets its a lot easier since they dont have to worry about learning most other stuff plus they have a group of people they know, so if one of them figures it out they all know it.
The changelog has always been a great help in finding out what changes were made over the years, but if the messages become cryptic now that changes.

I understand a long time player has a very different point of view, they might like to finally find out something new and spend some time figuring it out. So maybe the current change log messages arent that bad, but I hope they will be changed to accurately describe the changes after 2 weeks or something. So that new players when they go through the logs dont read cryptic message after crypic message and get rather frustrated.

And on a more positive note, all changes seem to have made the game more fun and more diverse, so why 'hide' them. They should be advertized instead :)

I don't see a problem with the way Apokriphos posted in the change log, it didn't affect the game mechanics or how one would plan a build. I believe if it is a game mechanic, spell, feat, job or class related issue then it should be spelled out in black and white. Otherwise game on.

It's fine without the detail. I know it won't be anything NC related anyway...
