Re: Things That Kill Servers
actually, fighter feats + blinding speed + pm is what that was lorkar, i should def make one of those, looked like funLorkar wrote:Funny you say that, since I believe I saw one the other day. Monky speed, stunning fist, immune to crit. Sounds like a monky/PM to me. Strange thing was I haven't seen that login before and he was stomping other 40's, so if he wasn't a 40 he was damn close.Amoenotep wrote:i don't think its possible to make a monk/PM.....
The truth is just an excuse for those with a lack of imagination.

Truth is I agree with the others, my slogan is..."If it's not fun, go elsewhere."Dalan wrote:p.s. :MtainEer, what do you think? Do you still feel the same?
Since the wipe I have had three (once the hips change comes) toons nerfed to death...a dragon shaper (lost his ts'n), a kobold hipster (lost his small stature when hips went to drow) and now the drow (hips is getting changed).
Thought I'd let everyone know, since the hips is only affecting sl (lol), that the highest hide and move silenty char on ns4 is a shifter one and not a lvl 30 sd (thou I haven't seen one of those on here). Build it up and you will see, use the deep gnome for sr and small stature which goes with you shifting to the drow.
The attraction to NS4 was the unique cities, I don't think they are very balanced at this point....and yes AO gets the shaft when it comes to jobs usefullness unless they got an upgrade that I didn't know about and they can't have wiz/sorc or sd's.
Six months from now perhaps I'll check back in and see where everything stands,

Well first AO can have sorcs, NC and TC are the only factions with out wiz/sorcs. AO also have a good PRC the red dragon thing.
Also all your "nerfed to death" toons seem to be druid/shifters who needed a change. Also hips que clearing is the think i think needs fixing with hips i think the skills between detecters and hiders are ok at the mo.

If that's true it's broken. =/MtainEer wrote:Thought I'd let everyone know, since the hips is only affecting sl (lol), that the highest hide and move silenty char on ns4 is a shifter one and not a lvl 30 sd (thou I haven't seen one of those on here). Build it up and you will see

Re: Things That Kill Servers
well not much to do if "nerfed to death" includes not having 70 ac shifters at level 20, "losing small stature" on a hips form, and being forced to invest in spot skills to counter a build that invested in hide skills.
i suggest you look for a server where devastating critical and pal/bard/pms are allowed, it seems such a server would fit your play style better.

Re: Things That Kill Servers
I will admit to never having done the shifter thing, but how can that be? Multiple SD builds can hit the 50 cap, and there is no way around the engine enforcing the cap. So how is it that a shifter build can have more hide than DEX+feats+ranks+50?Sneakypie wrote:If that's true it's broken. =/MtainEer wrote:Thought I'd let everyone know, since the hips is only affecting sl (lol), that the highest hide and move silenty char on ns4 is a shifter one and not a lvl 30 sd (thou I haven't seen one of those on here). Regardless, even if it were true, I would argue there is more to a shadowdancer build than HiPSing.

Cannot be done on this server by normal ppl here and also it is only good on a real high magic server but still stinks due to low damage and attack.i don't think its possible to make a monk/PM

Re: Things That Kill Servers
1) Fewer people in SL would make me happy, assuming it leads to more pvp
2) The devs are attempting to make balanced pvp server, DnD pnp isn't balanced, nwn isn't balanced, ns is closer and in my opinion as a general trend continues to approach balance more and more closely.
responses to SL rant
1) CoTs were too good. The first toon I rolled post wipe was a CoT (went neutral cleric over pally to get gith subrace and to dodge BG smites), and I know multiple members of ::DD:: who have CoTs for farming planar gear.
2) Nwn assassins are lame, the paralyze is easily negated, and in my opinion as is, the class is too 1 dimensional (ie really high int and crap ab and a prayer that you actually hit and they roll low enough to fail the save, otherwise you are toast once out of stealth, assuming you weren't spotted earlier). The love the devs gave assassins is needed, though not sufficient to convince me to roll one. Equating etherealness with hips is a pretty big leap.
3) We don't get a bonus to listen, and the bonus to disc is only +2 if I am reading my sheet right. I personally think our jobs rewards are pretty much inline with the other factions, though AO is shafted, and I would trade for NC rewards in a heartbeat.
4) Bioware trueseeing is crazy good, on a server where immunity items and permahaste don't exist I don't really see it as having a place, especially since it isn't available to all factions (just like svirf got keen senses so RK wasn't left out of spotter builds).
5) I would love for pallies to have mounts, I wanted to roll a pally after wipe myself, but the log clearly stated that horses were being watched because of lag, and the timestop effect ruined pvp. I forsee them being removed from pve personally, no one likes lag.
6) Everyone failed it before, most everyone will still fail it now, since I haven't seen any of the pure barbs (all 3 of them?) complaining I don't see the big deal /shrug.
7) They are looking at HiPs, while I don't know exactly what they have in store, I suspect it will gut the melee builds that spam it for sneak attack damage. I still think it will be a good escape/breather mechanism for melee and I don't see caster/ranged builds being very much affected as they tend to utuilize entire rounds of play out of stealth.
Misc comments:
CoTs were too good in the sense that almost every build in NC is a CoT, there is very little diversity. If the NC build options are too weak without the crazy CoT there is no doubt in my mind that they (the NC faction) will get some love.
Double damage on divine might was a little too good, I myself told people in game that I would make that a pure pally bonus only (and 30 cot) if I had any say in the development process. Hope you get what you want deathdancer.
Why SL has the vast majority of the SDs I don't know (where were the 2x divine might sd's? I would so have been rocking that), but as korr said, SL will be hit hardest by the sd nerf which I have no doubt is coming and will utterly destroy some of the more abusive tactics which we and others employ (looks towards melencia....).
As far as what is the CoT weakness, forcing flatfootedness seemed to work best, most easily achieved by blindness, so please keep rolling non-SR races with tendencies towards vision impairments
When you have a bunch of players in 1 faction with no exp (I care less what experience you think you have, to) and just "bodies" you were truly never able to control relics, but when you throw in experienced players that have 3 or more years exp into the mix and then presto, relics. IO has "experienced" players and throw that into the loop with "experienced" DD and SL players and you have domination. So here is 2 ways to resolve the problem. Keep crying on shout and forums or join SL. Oh by the way I play a many non SL chars and kick SL's arse one on one, even 3 on one (most of the time) so the third solution which I did not give above is that your toon build stinks.
