Mines just a quick 1. I saw a party of lvl 10 or 11 people cleaning up FD wolves the other night and im assuming that they used portals to get past the lvl limits for that area.
Could a DM plz post here if this tactic is allowed, im not bothered either way but dont want to get introuble for exploiting.
TO me it seems exactly what the portals were designed for but i know over the years several DM's have had problems with lvl 9 and lower ( lvl 6 with darkness lol ) monk or rogue types killing FD wolves for massive xp
Well honestly isnt this hole thing an over complicated solution to a non issue? I do not like the portal system for the sole reason that it makes the server less NS4 and more NS3.5. People dont run anywhere anymore. They dont take the time to explore, they just port here port there.
We have lvl 1's leveling in Frost Dale. I say bring back death express , get rid of the respawn cool down unless your inside a faction city, get rid of the cash on death unless your inside a faction city, get rid of the port system and call it good.
Jobs!......
Honestly if the players didnt like death express i am sure they would have said something. Also if it isnt to much to ask, can we put back that lovely feature that someone worked hard on that told you were you were bound to in your journal?
I believe they said the major problem the DMs had with death express is that you would just DE and get raised and all your ill effect are gone. I would think maybe now that the DE system is gone maybe the restoration spell will take away level drain (which its supposed to) and the like

I really doubt this is it. If you have someone there to raise you then they can certainly kill you and raise you. What difference does it make if they kill you or you DE? It's not like you have to wait the 10 min to get raised, just to respawn.

I've been thinking about it the past few days, and have come to the conclusion that the current implementation of the riftwell has the following effect:
Players with few high level toons (say less than 5 that are 35+) have a real hard time defending relics since there is no 'quick' way home in the event of a raid. This means you have to park your defenders and leave them ready for defense at all times. This makes it a risk for these players to take their toons out to level them or for gear runs, rescues, etc.
There is addidtional trickle down from that, giving the factions with immensely more players (or high lvl toons) the advantage of having more toons at home able to defend.
You might look at this and say, 'yeah, that's how it was before too'. But you we able to bind yourself at home in the past and quickly return home for defense as soon as you saw the 'defenders have been defeated by' message. Now, when you see that message, you say 'oh $%^' cuz you know they will be gone by the time you get there.

On the other hand, there are portals near each rift--errr--home where you portal back to, that facilitate rapid movement to your cradle. You just gotta find it. Before, if the cradle was under threat (had been touched after all defenders were killed) you would be unable to DE anyway. This way you can get home very quickly without having to be DE dependent.
Just some thoughts on the matter.

Actually even if the cradle would be threatened, by just touching it, you wouldnt be allowed to DE; the defenders didnt have to be dead, afaik.
I like the new portal system. Parties get together very fast, if the need arises. Connecting portals is fun and finding a portal not knowing where it will lead is thrilling too.
Although DE had it's advantages I prefer the new system.

All i was trying to say is its very "Meta-Gamer" to me. I thought that NS4 was against Meta Gaming and didnt realize somewhere that the staffs opinions had all shifted.
I like finding random portals, too - almost always pop through if I come across one. I'd guess if someone's looking for PK fun, they can create one and wait on the other side for the curious - though I suppose having said that, I'll make sure I'm buffed before going through from now on

Yeah i realized that later... dont mind me while i laugh abit at myself. Narrow minded however doesnt really fit a situation of error. More like, here is your mistake let me politley correct you.
But hey i can live with it.
I somehow think the 1.69 update will soon distract everyone from the elimination of the Death Express. For now, I say let's give them time get this ironed out.
