For the artifacts, it would be helpful to add them to both the Artifact category and the base item category. I set up most of those item categories a while back so it would be easy for people to look for specific types of equipment.

After having the artifact system being in for a while, just curious what kind of frequency we're ending up with for artifacts being dropped?

I think the original rule of thumb we were shooting for was an artifact or two a day being dropped. Is that roughly what's happening?

What's the highest level artifact that has been dropped that people have found?

There's only 8 items in the Wiki artifact list - is that all people have found?

i still haven't seen one...and for some reason spending 2 days in the planes and i'm not getting very many drops off them either.

in planars we're talking like i found 1 suit of armor and gold rings...if anything. most of what i got was boss drops becase they always drop something.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

I haven't found them enough to bothering caring about them anymore.
I've found about 2, both the being the mountain armor.
Considering the stats on it, either raise the frequency of drops, or boost the stats on the items to match their infrequent drop.

I've gotten two Greatswords of the Orca. One came off a wolf in FD, not sure about the other.
I'm not sure if it's really an artifact...

Beyond that, I haven't personally seen any.

One problem we face is that the unique item (ie non-store/non-generic or Imbued/higher) market is wholly dependent on Shouts and on an interested seller and buyer being on at the same time. A forum would be too slow-moving and not visible enough to work... The only solution that would not require massive recoding would be a persistent merchant who would buy items, and would keep them in inventory if they were non-generic. He'd have to sell at pretty high prices to keep the market from being flooded, though.

That's odd, many people in tLB have found that armour too, I have had it drop twice now, and I did get the Mountain Storm Helm in 'zons.

I wonder if people may be overlooking artifacts due to all the changes in what drops and the 1.67 colour changes. It's quite odd that so many people have found the same artifact armour, perhaps there is a problem with the system? or the other artifacts don't look different enough from normal loot?

Seems fairly rare to me. I've only found 2 Greatswords of the Orca, one was in the Durrena Peak caves and IIRC, the other one was in Sanctum Arcanum. Or was it gnolls? I forget.

But the frequency is pretty rare, and I grab stuff I don't recognize only to find out it's Avendell or Imbued gear. When that happens, I usually dump the item in some remains or a chest because that stuff isn't worth selling except a few Imbued pieces. And I only sell the imbued stuff, because with some very few exceptions, there's better stuff out there than the Imbued and my guild either has a good supply of it, or I can get the item easily on my own.

Another suggestion I made a while back was to have the unique dragons that live out in the more remote areas drop a random artifact when killed. Most people don't bother with them because they don't drop anything good and are considered more trouble than their CR is worth. But if they have a fairly long respawn, like 30 minutes or an hour, that would balance things out a bit and help to keep the camping down.

ive found one mountain storm helm.
I may have passed up others but ive been playing with deekin most lately and he can only carry so much stuff. I usually pick up anything that looks unusual but it usually ends up being standard items in the funky cool new colors...

YEAH! that is a smashingly good idea: instead of having to create some unique drops for the dragons (other than Shiv'Las) they could have a (much) larger % chance or so of dropping a random artifact than other mobs.

Also I wonder if the drops are or could be twinked so that you don't get a lvl9 artifact from a cr29 mob.. (have it scale a bit in favour of higher level artifacts for higher level mobs).

I dont know if I agree with the raising the drop % but definately take out the possibility of getting level 9 or 13 gear on a cr over 27. The creature itself wouldnt really have that low of a level gear and if it was a dragon... dont dragons usually keep really nice stuff, lots gold and anything that isnt like a certain gp value they use as toothpicks or something. Or chuck into a garbage pile outside their dwelling. I dont agree with the raising of the % of the drop rate because then you re going to get people in that s all they do is just kill certain creatures to exploit the drop. Thats not fun. Then you have tons of the same item roaming and it depletes the " aftifact " value of the item. Just becomes another common gear that others can get ahold of. But for sure increase the value of the drop.

Dragons aren't picky. They want any and all treasure they can get.

Some of the Imbued gear is in high demand for those not backed by a guild with many easy-to-get-to mules.

Imbued Kamas, for example... I'd keep most Imbued melee weapons around just to sell them, but my personal mule in Ave is already full...

I try to keep everything imbued and up.
The general rule of thumb for me is:
If you cant buy it, dont sell it.

at least until ive got a decent supply going...

I have not seen any Imbued Mithral Boots dropping anymore. Not sure what happened to them but they just aren't being found.
