When I'm traveling I tend to improve incis everyone I cross in my travels, which typically are low levle hostile players. I even get thank yous once in a while. Never thought much about it, since I'm hasted even if they try and run from my free buffs I RUN THEM DOWN!!!!! But yea I've seen players get really edgy, but I assumed that's just be cause I'm infamous, not because they were worried I was going to kill them. I guess I'll think more about it next time.

I personally hate being buffed/healed by people I don't know. It's a personal insult... a way of calling me weak.

Buff me, I won't complain }: )
I'd hit VXX ("I thank you") and keep waddling along lol
Maybe if it's a friendly from another faction on hostile, put the guy you're going to buff on like, then cast, this way he'll know you're just helping.
I halp people from other factions alot and often party with them, I'm really not part of this war, I just fight those who start trouble.
And DV, if you take buffing as a personal insult to your strength, you really need to get away from this game for a while, go out into the real world, and find some OTHER source of self-esteem. If this much of your pride and self worth is effected by someone's perceptions of your D&D player character, then you need a girlfriend or something... and you're becoming one of those people who take the game way to seriously. YOu know, the ones that our mothers pointed at when they said not to play D&D amd listen to Man-O-War in the 80's because it would make us Satanic and we'd commit suicide when our favorite Ravenloft character gets eaten by wolves. Surprised you didn't jump out a the nearest window when NS3 got wiped lol.

I love being told how I should run my life by people who've left the mod never to return. Insults make me giggle. ^_^
I just ask that you ask before buffing so I can say "no thanks."

Bahahaha you guys crack me up
God I love this place, just when you think there's nothing left to surprise you, something like this pops along. This is almost as good as the lvl 4s who summoned some crappy monsters attacked a high level cleric in my faction, and then complained when she killed both summons and one of the casters (which she raised later too)...
Please, you're complaining because somebody helped you while you were a sitting duck? They tried to stop you from being so vulnerable, and you felt threatened? And so what if they were going to kill you? You were headed home anyway, it would have been a free teleport for you, saving you even MORE time....
