Whenever I go home, I stop by and say high to the woman who babysat me when I was little; not long ago, she had her fifth kid, which was finally a girl, and the look on her face that she finally had had one meant she could stop at long last was a look of relief beyond measure

Gratz DD. Took me 4 tries to get a girl too and I think it was a look of relief on my face that we could stop finally.
Word of advice, in the words of Robert Heinlien, daughters can spend 10% more money than a father can make (legally or not), and it starts from the day they are born.

Congrats! I have a 14 year old daughter. Just wait till she is about 8 and has a sleep over with five other 8 year old girls singing the latest pop song together, not necessarily in harmony. At about 12, plant poison ivy and cactus under the window. But congradulations on your new baby girl.
I'll second what TGPO said...but it's more than worth it.
As far as advice...Love and protection is the foundation, patience and kindness go a long way. As Daddy you're her whole world. It's a heavy thing at times, but as I said above...more than worth it.
I have 2 girls. You are blessed.
Congratulations!

Well Idont have kids but did grow up with younger siblings that were 16-18 years younger and its a real treasure to have those memories. Congratulations and the one picture with your daughter with the little hair ribbon is priceless. Very cute. I also liked the dogpile of the kids on yah.
Well amidst all of the other congratulatory posts, I'l have to tell ya the truth. I have 1 boy and one girl and althought ya love em the same, the raising part of my daughter was 10 times the work of my son. The great part is, once they are grown and have kids of their own , they still call ya mommy and daddy. I have a wonderful 3 month old grandaughter and my daughter named her after me. Congratz and good luck. Enjoy em now... they grow too fast!
