Im already having a lot of fun in this mod. I already helped to kill a filthy drow member of the SL that foolishly wandered into LA territory. muahahahaha

you guys are judging way too hastily.

all factions are not equal in terms of jobs/quest/newbie zones.

if you want to do the 'first impressions' are important approach, stay the hell away from RK and MA. those are definitely not ones you want to judge ns4 on.

i would suggest you play LA, or AO factions to get a 'feel' for ns4.

All bugs aside, I think NS4 is great. The only thing I wouldn't agree on is the lack of haste. I think it's a little backwards to make NS4 10 times bigger than NS3, but take out haste so it takes an hour to get through a zone. I'm not saying that low lvls should have haste, but I don't think it's a good idea to take it out altogether, as it could lead to loss of fanbase. Just a thought.

Hrm, seems to me if its haste you want having a mage or bard around for a quick mass haste now and again might be just the thing.

Uh Oh, I just spotted another reason for trying to make atleast a semi balanced party.

well i do like NS4 i like it that a partybuffing cleric works, that KD et all work, and that disabling spells work.
the lack of haste i'm used to by now, so its NP, i'm shure the jobs/quest will coem to MA (my faction) eventually.

i have one suggestion, would it be possible to make quests like this:
bring a letter from Garagoth to menzo, there you get something to bring back, as a reward you get 3 tickets for a gate from menzo to Garagoth, the reason i bring this up is becasuse it is such a long walk from menzo to garagoth.
I don’t really see much point in intelligence anyway, even at very high levels of intelligence, wizards still don’t realize it would have been smarter to be a sorcerer.

*giggles* We've heard so many say "I don't care how many bugs there are or how incomplete it is, just release it!" And now we get people complaining that it isn't complete and it has bugs in open beta. Pardon me while I roll my eyes.

Personally I absolutely loved NS4 and became totally hooked, even with only a couple days experience and the few bugs. I love that you actually have to EARN your gear and your power, and that it will be unlikely that any one character will be invulnerable to everyone else. Everyone should have strengths and weaknesses, it's what makes your character fun and unique imho. Recently I returned to NS3 after about a year off, checked the donation bin, and found that silver shortsword (haste item). I mean, of course I took it but you know in the long run it really ruins the fun having no challenge whatsoever and fighting mobs much higher than i should be fighting. In NS4, even if there were such an item (which supposedly there won't be perma-haste), you wouldn't be able to use it until you were of the correct character level. I love the fact that fighters are actually fighters, with weaknesses .... unlike with the ultra-twinked gear where you are immune to every form of magic, immune to crits, true-seeing, hasted, unlimited heals, god-plate of uber elemental resist. I mean that is just dumb (maybe i'm alone here). If you want to be that uber..why even have character classes...we should just sign up for the uber class and be able to kill g1 at level 3 and then quit the game because it is too easy and boring. And about haste, people that want it will find ways to get it via potions, items, character classes (monk speed, barb speed), and spells. It just won't be permanent, and not at level 1. It really isn't that bad! If you ever played EQ or similar games you will know what running through zones for hours is about. NWN just isn't that big .. come on it takes you 2 minutes to run through a zone as opposed to one minute. It's just our nature that in today's world we want instant gratification now, no not now, freakin yesterday. The problem is getting that gratification makes you want something else...so the trick is never quite getting it...which I think the Devs have done perfectly in NS4 and I love it. Another example of coolness: it appears that hide and move-silently actually have value now, and that skills like spot and listen actually have value. This means rogues have a purpose, and that 6 int munchkin builds actually get a penalty for the lack of skill points (you want heal, you want listen/spot, you actually want lore). Any system that allows more variety to be useful is a good system. Sorry for the ramble just my 2cents.

Yes NS4 is a great idea and a fun MOD, but so was NS3. Ns3 was geared to powerlvl and be god like, but it was balanced at no time did a LVL3 char ever go against G1. Come on.... The only thing that made NS3 weak was the intro of Hotu and the Dev. team having no time to tweak it. Which Im happier they took there time on NS4 instead..

Now to NS4 yes I like the Mod.....but it is more like a SOLO player game. I know its still Beta Stage but it seems IMHO that the thought of a great number of people were going to play was over looked. Example the spawn time was to long. The idea of only one person talking to a NPC at a time, while noble in IDEA making more realistic, not practical in GAME. Quite a few people do play the game on a limited time frame, why punish us for not having as much time as people with a great amount of time to play.... Im not flaming by any means just giving my construtive opinion.

I know alot of issues were due to bugs.. So to the Dev.team good job on the build and good luck with the bugs... :D And to the community be patient with the DMs, DevTeam, and your peers.

Lets make this a fun time. One of the main attractions of NS is the community.. :D
