like to see the ants go down a few pegs and speed up recovery time so not everyone goes to giant mtn to lvl. Needs to have another place similar to lvl.

There are plenty, Willow. And this isn't about places you want to have changed, but your favourite area, if there is at all, which I highly doubt, knowing that you like to criticize everybody and everything.

Wanted to wake this thread back up as these are good ideas.

With the changes to Giant Mountain, where are people going now.
Have you tried hobgoblins.. or the Bandits by NS.

Is Sunken too difficult for the teen levels..? Ideas? Thin spawns? lower lvls/crs? Raise difficulty/CR?

Trolls on the mountain.. Too hard for CR? easier then the giants further up? Ideas?

NS City? Just right? more tweaks? - Castle with relic.. make harder? What levels is this doable at?

Formians? Ideas? Easier taskmasters? harder?

Underdark? worth it or just passing thru?

Nexus mobs? Too tough for cr/area? Leave em alone?

Planar areas needing more cr bumps/tweaks to make them worth going?

Any other areas youd like to see tweaked..?

Bear in mind Id like to keep the game accessible at the lower levels to newer players that may not have all the latest power builds. (Like me lol)

My favorite areas are the ones where I get xp for killing other players

Something needs done here... all those are good ideas. I went there the other day at lvl 17 with a small party to get a better understanding of the problem after avoiding it all these years, and it wasn't fun. Thinning spawns might help. Much depends on the possible XP changes.
DeputyDog wrote:Nexus mobs? Too tough for cr/area? Leave em alone?
Yeah, something could be done here. It is too tough for the CR, but the possible changes to XP could change that.
DeputyDog wrote:Planar areas needing more cr bumps/tweaks to make them worth going?
Water Plane, Air Plane, Shadow Plane.... but again, that could all change with the possible XP improvements.
DeputyDog wrote:Any other areas youd like to see tweaked..?
South Road Tower. Duskhaven. Possibly Amazons (especially the first few original areas) Bandits maybe? Perhaps even Haddon Mirk. Again.. much may change with the possible XP improvements.

One. I didint nerf the crypt so hush.

Looking into the crypt after some feedback but it may get an overhaul.

Xp system changes have nothing to do with the tweaks Im looking at.

Did some stuff to Sunken. Check it out again and let me know.

I think zons is good. I played it today, and yes there is a huge gap between first area and the hard stuff but it is two different areas. Maybe a different entrance or at least a warning sign hehe.

South Road tower - Ill look at . Most of those mobs are fairly generic so may need to play thru it a few times.

Duskhaven - too hard, to easy, dull? I like the vamps.

Haddon Mirk seems to be a place that people dont want touched so not sure about that one.

No xp for PVP. the relics are the focus and the reward. the PVP is the method.

I would keep checking places you havent been too in a while with all levels of characters because I have been and will be tweaking all over the place.

The crypt is like CR 25 (if I'm not mistaken), stop taking your level 16 clerics there like you used to ;)

This concerns me... currently, when in enemy faction areas, you lose gp on death. Defending toons can gain gp and xp in the cradles (only gp is lost by the defeated raider). I've seen a couple toons hit 40 in relic defense. Don't take this away

I think he thought the guy meant being able to level at a decent rate just by PVPing.

Yes, I meant getting xp for simply killing another out in the open.
Will never have that as it would encourage griefing and bring out the bullies.

As for the crypt, I heard the problem was that it was an easy gp farm so it was changed to not be.
Suggestions on what to change it too now if it is useless now?

Disclosure: I haven't tried out the new changes, so all of my comments are "pre-recent stuff".

Crypt used to be a GP farm, now it's very difficult. I've heard some people say they take clerics there (mass heal FTW), but honestly that area is pretty tough. It might be CR 25 (or whatever) but the difficulty is much higher with the high DC BBOD and meteor spam. I can easily take groups through ice giants, Skara, IoD, that would get destroyed in crypt. It's true that Skara clerics have implosion as well, but IIRC the DC is lower and there are far fewer clerics than frozen guardians.

Other areas I would consider changes: reduce difficulty of that 3rd IoD boss? The one in the hidden room that I've never fought because he is *way* harder than the rest of IoD put together. At least he is by legend. Even arcanamech is just annoying, that hidden room boss is supposedly insane with multiple hellballs.

On a similar line, maybe (but not certain) nerf the efreet boss. He's not too bad, but it is a pretty big difficulty jump over regular efreets. I think more groups are starting to test him out, but I still wouldn't take an inexperienced group of players against him because hellball + implosion + other badness is enough to cause a lot of havok at the level 22-25 that most players would be by then.

I think improving the XP on goblins, bugbears, lizardmen, etc might be a good change. All of those mobs are so frail and so low CR that by the time you hit about lvl 5, it just isn't worth your time to stay there and your main option is giant mtn from then on (or for the brave, mezzoloths). I think the XP system change might fix this, but it would be nice if I ever had to reason to go to old trade route besides passing through it on my way to avendell.

Similarly, I think changes to ancient wyrm road, bottomless pit, etc might be a good idea. As far as I know, these areas aren't near any major city, but the CR to difficulty ratio is never worth going there. Similarly with the Wold, the gargoyle road, archaeology camp and those eastern maps, although possibly AO people go there. Same thing with Angmar waste maps, although possibly MA people go there. I think these maps are pretty cool and I *wish* it was worth visiting them, but I honestly never do it unless I am taking a stroll with a lvl 40 just to check out the scenery.

Oh yeah, and what about the underdark? Do SL/RK people spend much time at all exploring/leveling in the underdark maps? It seems like these areas are similar to what I describe above: tons of stuff that is all near the same CR range (3-6), but because you usually hit around lvl 4 by when you leave your home city, it is never worth killing them when you reach there. So you are left with these vast maps that you should just run through to get to better parts.

I really like Negative Plane. Would be cool if the starting spawn once u portal in could be tweaked as starting spawn is often way too hard even for a well played party. I have no issues at all with a huge spawn but it would be cool if the most of them were not at the portal when u first enter. It can be brutal.

Actually the first screen of many high level areas tends to have a too dificult spawn and experienced players just run passed them. new players end up getting killed as they try to fight and then just go elsewhere. I know I did this the first time myself and 2 friends tried negative plane.
- e.g. first screen of negative and positive planes are brutal and experienced players just run to the 2nd screen to start

Also, Like DE and HoD for reasons already mentioned. HoK is cool although that maze can be frustrating.

Abyss is really good and fun. Too bad some players have never seen it

Oh, one point on the efreet boss mentioned above. He does seem a little tough for the levels that go there. This would be ok if he dropped anything even remotely worthwhile but i don't think he actually drops anything remotely useful. Just my opinion

Amazons are really cool as there are 4 bosses in the city (5 if u count the one that only comes out at night). I'll have to try the earlier screens a bit at a lower level as I never tried them before

Have not ventured into the Planes much (spend way too much time in Dorfs for the xp but I know this is already being looked at). Would be nice if water plane was somehow closer for toons (other than TC of course)

Really looking forward to making a new toon soon to explore all these changes

Thanks for making this a great place to play

Players get xp anytime they kill enemy players in areas that are considered to be their factions territory.
