I agree with Crazy, three days worth is redundant, a few hours is about all I have time for at any given time. I'd love to see a couple hour event only where it was a free for all blood-letting, rather than 3 days worth of faction B yelling at faction C to not raid faction A unless they can defend, especially since faction A wants to be raided and counts on it to get its totals doubled, ad nauseum repeat.

I'm in agreement with the Horse and Ashe: I have a house, a job and kids, so there is no way I am going to stay awake for 72 hours to defend and recapture. AFAIK, almost all of NC is comprised of players in the same boat as I am.
However, you give us a 4-6 hour window and you'll see what NC can do. 4 hours I can do.
How bout something a bit more dynamic... Wait till you have a high population of 35+ toon and then start a 4 hour event. Announced, but not pre-announced. Winners of that event get the beloved statue.
This could probably be automated with a script pretty easily to be active 100% of the time, but with restrictions that only allow it to happen during REALLY high pop times.

It's an all out War for 3 days! Free-for-all, kill'em all, run away from 'em all or whatever the nine hells you wish to make of it all!
NS4 is about the freedom to play whenever, from wherever, for whatever and however as you damn well please!
Ignore the war, join the war or confuse the war. Feel free to do whatever you damn well want with the war! Try to have some fun with it, for crying out loud.
Oh, we will be watching though, keep that in mind, yes?
As for LA being guaranteed to win. PPFFTTT!!!! Hogwash!!!! Superior numbers do not always win the war. Do you truly believe that higher numbers, and the ability log more hours is the only reason why LA has won this thing twice in a row? How about LA's superior battle tactics, and teamwork, huh? DM's personally watched LA put the smackdown on quite a few players during the last event, and it was a thing of beauty to behold.
Hold yer chins up, and suck in yer guts, players! We will be watching closely to make sure everything is fair and square. Good luck to ye all!

Yes.
Isn't that pretty much what they said?
"Superior Battle Tactics", like Flanking, require numbers. Since our wiki doesn't have a link yet, I'll post the vanilla nwn wiki link: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Flanking. Someone told me once that each attacker beyond the first will flank...Thought it was 'Tep, but I could be wrong.
Defending your cradle at 4:00 am PST on Saturday morning requires that you be there, or that you have someone in another time zone that can be, thus returning to numbers.

LA's superior mob tactics worked great. It was an ork WAAAAGGGHHHH with a couple mages to IGMS straggler toons their pure fighters and pure barbs couldn't kill. That and the two bard/ftr/sd's picking off weakened or dead as well.
If you remember correctly, NC has always been up after the first day of fighting. But then cuz we have jobs and families we log at decent hours, and the next day we log in to find that not only has LA topped our relic count, but they've doubled it. Seriously the first time they won, I logged out with a 5 to 2 lead after 4 hours of play. The next day I logged back in and they were up 13 to 5 (essentially capped all 6 non-LA relics and got 5 recaps). We're only two down (we can get 6 caps now since they hold em all), but we're two relic caps down. Against a faction that has more good players in more time zones than any other faction. The way you score is not really by capping relics, its by holding your cradle and getting multiple cheap recaps. That's how a faction wins. When we held the relics they wouldn't raid till they saw our numbers dwindle, because people in NC don't have all day to play. They know this so they wait for the inevitable. They also know that there are enough people on this server with very high opinions of their ability to solo raid and so get lots of recaps.
If you noticed the key is not so much superior numbers, but superior hours. They definitely have superior hours and it gives them a huge advantage. I could go back into the long diatribe about the mathematics of scoring, but the first time seems to have gone ignored and I'm tired of explaining.
If it goes three days it is a moot point. If it goes 4-6 hours? Maybe its still a moot point, but then like I said above, you can almost guarantee there will be more participation, and its not something that everyone will have had to spend three days investing time and energy into.

Just to set the record strait, there are more IO in FoN and NC than there are old members of MD in LA. Infact alot of the people you would think and i thought were members of the old MD guild werent. So lets set the record strait
LA noobs we are, old MD members we are not.
Yes Lets. We have one member of IO. Thats right, just 1. You all know who he is, I find it amusing that you think he is 6 or 7 people. -1-
ok ok, some may have joined IO in the last month or so, but that is basically because Virgil Rix FoN smells bad. I cant help this, its just the way he is.....
That brings our grand total to maybe 3. Count em, 1-2-3. If my math is correct, there are more old members of MD in LA.

I've heard it thrown out there a couple times recently, about how NC holds their relics and defends, yet they seem to get attacked less than LA while holding. There's an easy explanation to this... raw distance. No one want's to run all the way to NC just to fail, even large groups to NC are hesitant to attack. If a member dies during the raid on NC, they can't just respawn to evenshire and run back to the fight in 3 zones, which is the case with LA. NC is just more annoying to attack because its much farther to run to (and run back without getting caught before capping relic, meaning a longer period of vulnerability.)
LA's location is also what causes their points to skyrocket. Non-affiliated or solo toons will hear their is a relic event and will want to participate. 'Lo and behold LA has the relics... well that's not too far to give it a try. It's even cooler when they let you run in with minimal fighting so you think you have acomplished some major feat by beating their defenses and capping the relic... until you die in .3 seconds after grabbing it. Score 1 more for LA. Add all the random occurances of this from probably all factions and you can see how the LA score gets beefy over time.
