Type of choosen Epic Defender
Type of choosen Epic Defender
In my faction or any other one would expect to find Epic defenders that reflect that faction. Case in point no self respecting Evil PaleMaster would allow a Dispelling, Fire Ball Blinding Construct defending his Relic. If each relic cradle had one or three Epic defenders that reflected their class with the best possible "resonable build." that would allow players form other factions to test their metal so to speak. I.E. Ma would have an Epic Pale Master that was a pure fughter type/ a PM that was a caster with a Summons/ and maybe a tricky one that only appears with the help of the Gods, maybe that would drop something speacial for hard working player's that love the game. But not in any world would there be Fire casters in a world that fire was a true weakness of its Evil Champion. This would allow ppl to see what a good build would look like and give players the added experience of Knowing when they see a certain charater that they are testing their build aganst one of the best builds possible with what should be a unquie reward perphahs. My first post so let me knwo what you think ppl TYVM

in a perfect game you could set up the defenders to be true champions and harness their skills and powers to your benefit....
but you play NWN and the hardcode AI is basically working with a 55 IQ. this pretty much means that no matter how well and cheesy you build the creature its still dumb. it won't use the spells that would be best, it won't use the summon to its advantage, and it won't run when its severely outmatched.

So, if you remove the "dumb" spells from the creatures spell list, it would stop casting those spells.
Like dismissal.
Our MA guards cast dismissal, when theres nothing around to dismiss. The worst part is they'll cast it and remove our own bigbies we cast on people.
RK guards, the priests, are another example. As soon as you walk in the room they cast greater restore on themselves. You can be invised and 20 ft. away and they'll buff up and greater resto themselves. For no reason.
The MA guards fireballs though, eww, they can just go away completely. And the same with the incendiary cloud.
So does the AI with the 55 IQ still cast the spell if it's removed from its list?

nope...then the mage thinks it need to go into melee combat. casting AI is the worst AI imaginable.
a mage with a weapon in his hand thinks he's a fighter if there are no spells to be cast. not to mention it chooses what spells it wants to cast. you can tell the idiocy by watching the bards in HOD go to work with some of the spells it does.

There ya go, drop the dismissals and fireballs, add time stop
.
Really though, if you remove a spell from their list, but replace it with something more, umm, well something that doesnt screw over the PC defenders like fire spells and dismissals, then it seems the AI still do the same, just keep casting spells until it runs out and then melee with the staff.
Which is fine, as long as the "bad" spells are removed.
Just for the regular guards though, the epic defenders are another subject in another topic.

Fixed. Oh, and Mask is right. They may hurt you, but they hurt us too. While you guys use Drow, we use Duergar and the Fireballs are also a blinding (literally) pain. But I must agree, it is humorous when I'm stuck in a bigsby and get freed a by a retarded guard.Ebenezer Grymm wrote:The difference is the AO guards are too busy killing lowbies to be worth anything.
Nice try though.

yeah, the ac/ab 60 greatsword fells need a boost..... those fellas bloody nerly tore me apart when I ran into 2 of em at lvl 35 O.o They are mean!!!!! :p still, I love 2 handed weapons, so.....Blystos Re wrote:While we're on this topic, I'd like the epic defenders in NC to each summon a Solar and give the Song of Light's each a UMD of 25 and some Mord's scrolls.
Oh, Mass Haste too, please.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

does a plethora of breathe weapons count? they do about 60dmg on failed save i think. how much does a fireball do to pale masters? one that isnt meta'd...avg of 10d6 is what, 30 or something (?) + 25% PM vulnerability is about 40dmg on a failed save...ouch. now i dont know if those NPCs have evocation focus, if they do its a bit more damage.Ebenezer Grymm wrote:The difference is the AO guards arent casting anything detrimental to the PC defenders.

its your own fault that it blinds you. dont take drow, duergar, or tiefling next time.
