Thank You, Cely!
I'd just like to say thanks to Cely for the "Find the Dwarf" quest.
I think more high-level players ought to try to organize stuff like that, and I will be trying to come up with something soon.
Thanks again,

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. As I've told a few other players, some people enjoy the grind to level 40, I for one do not. My thought is that there are other players that do not enjoy the grind either and would appreciate a few simple distractions every once in a while. The NS4 staff have built us a GREAT sandbox to play in, let's use it to its full potential!

although i appreciate the effort that went into this for the community, i have a problem with dm's and players holding quests that make people from different factions team together.
we are a server at war people. time that some relize that. i have recived tells from dm's saying "do not interfer with the event" when my character who is taking part in said event turns on hositles.
we are at war. we should be killing each other not partying together.
................... of all people i would think the gods would relize this.
rather than just complain i offer a solution. faction specific events held my the gods that belong to that faction, or player run events held for their faction by their faction.

The reality is that enemies sometimes work together to achieve certain ends (like the USA and USSR in WWII, Mafia families, warring tribes to defend their common motherland, hostile faction members leveling together). NS4 should be no different.we are a server at war people. time that some relize that.

From an RP perspective I can understand what you're driving at here. Still, with stuff like Primus events in the past, we had a fairly global threat that affected all factions, hence "temporary" alliances that formed from all factions to stop the mad mage. Still, I suppose faction-specific DM/Player-run quests might be nice and could be a means of enticing players to join certain factions, say a mini-event for a faction each week or something.
However, from a player perspective, I see alot of the events tend to bring people towards exploring areas few ever travel to, and also show them alot of the creatures that exist in NS that many have never seen. It would be beneficial to expose this to as many people as possible rather than limit it to a specific faction. And hell, sometimes people just want to have some fun and forget about everything like Red=Dead and relic wars. These quests are, like cely put it, a fun diversion from the leveling grind.
Now, at TSS, we've had some faction-specific quests planned a while ago, before TC jobs were instated. Most of them were designed to help get newcomers acclimated with TC (which now the TC jobs are doing a good job of). If anyone wants to help run these events and expand them towards higher levels, be my guest. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure how much time I can devote to NS in the long haul, so I really don't know if I want to start the commitment of running weekly faction quests and then risk having to jump ship in the middle.

I think I know which incident you're referring to. Now that I've given it some thought, I think it's great that players would compete with each other to complete a task. However, your intentions must be made clear to avoid confusion. As for the incident I think you're referring to, I believe you had ample time to make it to the Bandit Camp without killing the same player twice. Killing that player once would have given you a sufficient headstart to complete the event.
Thanks for the suggestion about faction specific events. I wouldn't want to hold events only for RK because there are so few RK players in the realm. I also wouldn't want to hold faction specific events for the rest of the factions because that may lead to the perception of favoritism amongst the player base if some of them don't happen to be on at the correct time. Although the same could be said for holding level specific events, I think it's understood that certain events are tailored to level ranges by design and you can't scale them when a level 20+ shows up out of the blue (well I can't anyway).
In summary, I will continue to sponsor free for all events with the understanding that participants MUST make their intentions clear to me if they choose to impede another participant's progress. Also keep in mind that there are other ways to thin the competition out such as bribery, misleading them, etc, that don't necessarily end in death. Yes, the realm is at war - but war does not always have to lead to death. What about diplomacy and espionage? These to me are far more interesting than just outright killing someone.

Aye! So good of you to point that out. DCN has always used subterfuge rather then brute force. I remember a time when we had a guild member in everyfaction on our payroll

umm to set the record strait, i was a 35th level toon defending against IO raids at the time. they are like flys buzzing about.
it so happens there was an event that was taking place not to far away from NS.
i didnt have time to question if thats what they we doing so everyone who was red ended up dead.
wasnt trying to ruin the event but since i was logged in as an LA player at the time i defended my faction.
That all being said i had complete forgotten about the detials all except the dm tells i was reciving. so that is one of the many times this has happened.
during the red=dead event chase was holding i went after a large group of players from all faction who were taking part in one of silv's events.
well to say the least that didnt go over well. the gods frown upon that apprently.
so hopefully this post cleared it up. what i had said above stands, not specific to one situation but an over view.

If any players have an event in mind and I am online at the time I would love to help do some things maybe some rewards and/or some special spawns. So just send me a tell if you have something in mind or you could even pm me on the forums if you have a specific time and date in mind will see if it fits my schedule
