I didnt make this topic to turn and say that the areas already in are bad or something, they're not, this is the best server bar none for NWN on the planet!!!
I really just wanted to know if the DM team would be opposed to some of us submitting some new dungeon type areas in a contest type thing.
And the main reason I wanted to do that was because for as great as this server is there are certain little nifty things you can do with just the plain toolset that are never used at all. Only recently with the addtion of the Avendell HQ have I seen the 1st traps in an area. How nice would it be to have a dungeon where you needed someone with trap skills in your party, and heck even that would give rogues access to somewhere they can find traps to use.
Or a door immune to Knock you need a rogue to unlock? (yes I know there is one of these with the bandits, but in a dungeon setting much cooler)
Or how bout a boulder thats actually a door to the next area that requires someone with a really high stength to open? Likewise maybe runed doors that require intelligence or wisdom to open for the party, maybe a mirror to another place where you need a high charisma to pass...
How about an entire area devoted to Primus and his legions? Or Leona? Or a new plot line/arch enemy for the land that threatens all factions, but doesnt require DM's to be on to control (The Lord of Terror walks the Earth...)
And don't get me started on some of the crazy stuff i could do with monsters...

I must say I agree with Tep 100%.
Another thought - NS4 is designed around a specific set of guidelines that anyone outside of the Dev team wouldn't know, or even grasp. Even a small quest is tremendous work to have to change it to make it function correctly with NS4.

While there are quite a few areas, a lot of the areas seem empty.

I for one liked the pre-wipe FD maps better especially the Durrena peaks area.
Giant mountain I think would be greatly improved by adding the maps from 3.5, makes it feel more like a mountain.
Not to mention 3.5's revamped underdark which looks great, especially Menzo.

How about instead of random areas, you have portals to the lesser traveled areas. For example, a doorway in a house in Ave could take you to Gnolls. A random portal (like the planar shop portal) could appear somewhere, taking you to Mezzo or to Mortesai's Tomb. Something like in Planescape Torment, where you have all these portals everywhere (fits the NS story too, given rifts are suppose to be spawning alot given the instability of the place). You could randomize the area where a portal could take you, or fix the location for some, but not all.

i dont know if this is what all the posters are yearning for but to me it seems they are looking for a more "living world" feel where actions and events aswell as time changes the land and the monster territory lines. perhaps the giant mtn monsters got tired of all the raids of humanoids that they go and take over the dragon mtn area. the gnolls of redhorn canyon exspand further tward Neversummer due to a new chief that has organized them better.
and so on you get the idea.
this keeps the feeling fresh and it give more of a sense of time and adaptation. similar to the avendell revamp the world should change over the months/years moreso than just adding new planes and zones (wich there are plenty) as any "world" will.
this can be done a mutitude of ways with minimal effort simply changing the spawns accordingly is one way without editing any maps structurly. or a more indepth revamp of areas to entice more traffic to see the new bling lol like the underdark wilderness areas maybe there was a cavin that blocked one map partaly but also opened a way to another map or two that are new.
i think some little changes can do alot to add that zest that people are looking for.
and so on you get the idea.

As previously mentioned, the Dev team has its way of doing things. It is the right way. It is what makes NS the best, Period. Seriously, there is definitely rhyme and reason to why things are done -- almost 100% custom... 100%.

Guys I dont know if you missed my reply on this whole thing? But again I will mention it. I dont think the devs should be thinking of new areas right now be cause those jobs are still not complete. The jobs should have been done before they opened beta. So I really hope the jobs will be complete real soon.
