DC 72 doors that you can't open with a 75 open door check

Anyone know why the 3 doors in the Sunken temple that don't go to the Highlords room say that they are a DC 72 but my char can't open them with a 75 open lock check?

I get the success not possible (20+55=75 vs DC 72). These doors need to be changed to need specific key if they aren't supposed to be opened.

Maybe they are DC720 but the 0 gets cut out

some doors are locked --- but they might not go anywhere at all even if opened... :wink:

yeah... same thing held tru in the first incarnation of sunken...

Hmm, would it be possible to get a check of 70 with a non dex- or rogue-based character?

Lesse... +10 from rings, +8 (I think) from bracers, +4 from the +8 dex boots, +22 from skill points, and +20 for the take-20 check.

That totals to about 62-ish approximatly. More if you toss in a bard song or thieves tools. :lol: :lol:

Don't forget that clerics have access to Trickery Domain.

Don't know if it's been changed for NS, but the description says that the Cleric gets a +1/2casterlevel bonus to certain skills including Open Lock.

35cleric/5rogue dex based using a Knock scroll (UMD) is probably the best Open Lock build.

I'm a 22 cler/3 rogue with trickery domain and I can hit 81 with +6 tools, 2 +5 rings, and +7 bracers. When I take my next rogue level, I will be into the mid to high 90's for open lock/disable trap and I'm not a dex build.
