reflections hard core !

Post by MasterYoda »

so I was thinking ....

what if reflections was made to be the same thing but with no rules?

there are already minimal dms there just to handle little char bugs but I'm talking make reflections hard core.

no rules.

U can train mobs, multi kill, spawn camp, relog kill, nowhere is safe!

pick pocketing in avendale, relics in guild halls, area take overes wherever, bring disarm back....

do this and watch reflections NEVER have a problem again..... u know y?

cause there would be no rules for people to break, therefore nothing to complain about.

and when everyone sensible leaves you'll be able to wallow in your cesspool of unbridled hate with only kromix and willow for company. you'll probably just get bored then.

Before this goes on let me point out a couple things.

1. The rules are put in place FOR the community and even more so when new people come they aren’t immediately frustrated and leave.

2. It sucks sometimes enforcing the rules, lots of other things I want to be doing then typing out a warning for someone using an arrow exploit, its not fun for us believe me go back a few months and start reading, many times people will give the “it doesn’t specifically say..”

3. We cant think of every possible situation so if something does come up that “isn’t specifically said” we use our best judgment and again I would rather be doing other things then spending 20 minutes arguing with someone.

I actually like the idea of hardcore, but in a different sense:

Think Diablo2...hardcore meaning that once you die, character is deleted from server. Period.

Would give EXTREME emphasis to teamwork and the party system. Some places here do already, but you'd think twice before heading somewhere high level alone to power-level.

Could also be a warning to lower levels upon login that such a server exists and if it's not their cup of tea, direct them to NS4 or NS4R.

I know it's probably not even feasible right now, and a lot of glitches (transition death, ect) would have to be ironed out, but I'd definitely be down for something like that. Question really remains...would enough other people be as well?

people dont use the thunderdome now.

why would they play where the entire server is a thunderdome?

Whats so wrong with Reflections that is warranting this change?

I don't see anything wrong with it being the same as NS4 Main and I believe that any change to such hardcore rules would severely lower the player base on that server. Hence causing the same overpopulation of NS4 that Reflections was meant to stop. However I havent been on either server for a while now so if something has happened to warrant these changes I am unaware of it.

aye, the whole point of the reflections server was to allow more people to play "NS4" as it is, ...... hence the rationale for keeping it identical to the existing server.

It'd be pretty cool if the vaults could be shared between servers, but it really isn't practical.

That was brought up but I dont believe the servers are co-located. But that would definitely rock.

HARD CORE!

Wow..... Back when I first heard about reflection, I thought it WOULD have hard core rules on, and was kind of dissapointed that it didn't.

I think it would be great! But nothing like what Havok said...

--PARTY damage for spells ON (ie: full pvp?)

--NO RESPAWNING - when you die you must be raised within 24 hours or your character gets deleted (possibly adding a gravestone or statue with the name and date of death) -- this is the way at least 1 nwn server out there has/had it.

--NO safe/non-pvp areas (would be hard to do when using the same mod as Main) ie: BURN avendel!!!

--Same basic rules, but this server would be mostly veterans so the rules could be slightly more lax.

--Modified relic system - if you don't have your own, it's a -10% xp penalty ;] or something evil, +10% per enemy relic, and 10% for you and your party while carrying a relic.

etc... it could be a lot of fun.

Although that does sound cool, you have to look at it from all angles. It would be fun for the first person to get to 40, but after that, that person would become a self-proclaimed "god." They can go around and kill everyone's lowbies, so no one can level high enough to stop them.

Cant see it working , we tried this sort of thing on NS 3.5 Mid West and the server died a slow and ugly death.
