soloing planes
i went to shadow awhile ago and didnt have much trouble with it. if you get swarmed, it gets hairy but what plane isnt that true for? we were doing it with just 3 of us..a cleric, a dexer, and a PM. almost did the boss too by ourselves. this was all around lvl 30ish too.

Did Shadow with DD today, by did Shadow we killed on render and then spent 25 minutes rezzing the party and running around like morons.
Its a rough spot, I can see how its hard, and requires a big party to deal with. Thats good. But I wonder what the advantages of looting shadow is as compared to air or fire.

I've tried fire, i've tried faith, and i've tried force, all I have left is hope.

ok, the massive hide bonuses they get make them invis to all but the cheesiest for spot/listen. does it have to be in the 90's?
constant sneaks and crits are prevailent everything there gets sneak attacks.
the renders damage output is higher than any other planar mob i've ever fought. for it to consistently put out 70+ damage a hit with monstrous ab is insane. the shadows and mastiffs travel in large groups that don't like intruders.
we never made it off the hill that you start in..went down one side and when we were seen little did we know that a dozen had seen us that we couldn't see.

if i didn't do it...someone else would have.
their hide/ms is a bit high...i had 90spot against them as well as the extra d20 from detect mode and could only spot them about 75% of the time. thats not bad....if their CR was the same lvl as us. i have not seen huge damage really to our party from them so i cannot vouch for that. the renders have good AB but horrible AC...seems like a fine balance to me.
the shadows and mastiffs did absolutely nothing to us. the only things i actually saw doing damage were the renders, nightwalkers, and shadar-kai though it was nothing that killed anyone.
my suggestion for others...is to get a cleric that actually buffs the party, not himself. our cleric uses nearly all of her slots for party buffs, making her damage output minimal but keeping the rest of the team alive. give everyone neg energy prot, ii, regen, and holy/unholy aura and you stay alive for a while even under heavy pressure.
people need to start making different characters so you can actually create a diversified party that works well together. a bunch of people that have relatively the same build all have the same weaknesses. the enemies in shadowplane work great together and cover each others weaknesses. there are brutes, mages, sneakers, archers, etc. the first real challenge people run into and nothing but complaints. its just like in guild wars...a balanced build can counter anything if ran properly.
i dont really see the need to change the area except for more xp as ATI suggested.
so i dunno...make the plane easier if you want, will let me and my party roll through it while everyone else still struggles, which means a surplus of nice items for Slaves and im sure no one wants that

Ok i can safely solo everywhere but shadow and dwarfhome(cleric /fighter/rogue lvl 36 not a cheesey build just a must for a good allround cleric) which is cool i think so i dont think anything needs much changing. The biggest problem i find is getting a good party as i play a cleric and ask people what they need most times i dont get a responce.
Well really only been playing here for about 4 weeks and i find alot of the players dont like to talk much at all , maybe its just me lol.
To finish up great work i say to the Devs and co.

Yeah, keep the challenge but make it actually worth it.-BannyD- wrote:i dont really see the need to change the area except for more xp as ATI suggested.
Also theres been problems that with all the monsters HIPSing that it can mess up my computer and crash it at times, that might be way some poeple don't go there.
Well... before the wipe, I was soloing the shadow plane with my cleric - it was pretty slow cuz i had to lure one at a time at first - no cop-out, cheesy, lazy-arse PM here.
With a team of 2 (a mid 30's bard joined me) we handled the shadow plane pretty well -- note; that was when undeaths also gave an AC boost, what I would do is buff the party with undeaths, and then charge the Nightstalkers first, then work on the lighter mobs. As for the kai, I still had to lure due to their insane stealth, sneak damage and magic, running into a full mob of them was pretty suicidal.
