Hey, i've killed about 5 same lvl enemies and 5 newbies so far, but the more i do it, the more i ask, why? (beyond wanderlust) Is there something we are supposed to get out of PKing? I was hoping at first a xp bonus (because you are killing an intelligent creature), or some score or sometin, but it just doesn't seem worth the effort beyond exploring.
Maybe bonuses will be released when NS4 is open or sometin..
Advantages of PKing?

That would be fine if NS4 was supposed to be a PK-fest. It isn't. The fact that PvP is possible is just an added feature and isn't really necessary to enjoy the mod. I'm not a fan of PvP myself.

i hate to say it, but there will come a time when many of us have characters for whom the mod no longer holds wonders. even if we can't solo the hardest bosses, we will still be able to travel the realm safely and we will have partied up on those same bosses enough times that it will lose its wonder. when that happens, you either start a new character (always fun), or go fight other players of your level (also fun). or go on to a new game, but we won't talk about that

For me i'd like pvp to have some support. I recently ended months and months playing Shadowbane, and perhaps that has changed my views. I like pvp, i liked it when there were no restrictions(though killing n00bs is abusive), and i like it so far in neversummer. But i now know from experience that pvp doesn't make a game. But luckily neversummer is a great module for me aside from pvp, and i hope pvp is done well in neversummer, so that you at least get the person's gold(or a %), and so that there are banks because of the terrible mess i'm sure our inventories are. So even with the slight incentive of xp and some money, i'd consider that enough as long as it works out(which i think it will). But, keeping pvp restricted(not counting huge lvl gaps) by making it pointless will hurt the game. Like the previous poster said, over time the static parts of the game will grow boring. A changing pvp enviroment mixed with this will prolong the game's lifetime for us. Adding in keeps and posts to be defended, and personal housing to be looted will further this imo, and make for a well rounded and interesting game.
PvP used to be mainly about grievences, or agree'd apon guild/group wars, or just having fun with your fellow players. Now, most of the Pking im seeing in NS4 is from a small group of people who go around kiling other faction members just because they are from another faction. Yes, i know thats one of the main ideas behind NS4, but give me a frikkin break.
Ive seen high lvls sneak into NS under invis and slay all the merchants, practicly halting the economy until the next day, or stand at the gate and slay all the guards and anybody tying to get out of the city, just for kicks. Or killing people just for trying to explore diff areas outside their local ones. Pretty soon, most people are going to be wary of setting foot outside their server, for fear of losing the exp/gold/items that being Pk'd takes away from you.
The ONLY time ive engaged in PvP is when i was attacked first, or the guy was in or near NS killing anything he could get his hands On.
You want to Pk, fine. But at least have the respect for your fellow players to have a semi justifiable reason behind it other then "he's from another faction"

Please play the relevant part of the module before making judgements; why would people be wary of setting foot outside their server when being killed by a PC results in no loss of either gold or xp?

I believe what the devs are attempting by making PvP unrewarded is to create the mindset that PvP is fun because of the challenge, and not because of any gold/xp/items. This should prevent higher levels taking advantage of massively lower levels; they are just waisting their time and resources. This also prevents the exploitation of being PKed not being penalized, which I think we all agree is a good thing.
As to Wolfarus's comment about the attacks on NS, those people are probably wanting to engage the high leves of your own faction (who if I recall were busy attacking the SL and MA most of the time).
