First off, lets get a couple things straight.. This isn't NS3, this isn't your momma's apple pie, and this isn't me trying to troll. Here is the situation
I just barely killed someone from AO trying to invade on the grounds of The Circle, my partner and I let out a cry of relief. We announce on shout that an intruder had been murdered for tresspassing and the first thing I hear is, I quote "SO what! Axon is lvl 17 and he is murdering us, you only killed a lvl 2 char..." What kind of Horse **** is that? When did people suddenly stop being nice?
Another example
Im starting my session of the day, im lvl 3 and I shout, " anyone wililng to help a lvl 3 adventure out off melencia for a hunt?"
Daltian replies "Im lvl 7"
I reply "Awesome want to party?"
Daltian "No way!"
Me "Hehehe okay"
What is this? Where did the community involvment go in NS4? i might be speaking only for The Circle players, but this can't be happening. The poitn of the server to bring what NS 3 barely had, a community based on the adventures of paties from factions in the NS realms. I don't know what is happening to some of our players, but people have started to get really rude, upset, and have started to not work with each other to achieve a common goal.
PEOPLE WAKE UP!!!!
This game is about playing with each other, thats why it's multiplayer. Its about workign with each other in a new land. If we can't get past our own egos to help those of lower levels than us, If we can't get past our own egos' to simply congratulate a seemingly minor feat, what has NS4 become? Its only been out what? A week, maybe? And people are already complaining on posts about haste, upset that there are Ridiculous Item level restrictions, demanding DM's do something about the problem. Hold on everyone!!!! This isn't NS3! FOr a large part of the people out there, we are just trying to survive in a world that is barely understood in its infancy. Yet some have teh audacity to complain about the problems they never had in NS3.
Listen..... if you want NS3 style go to south..its up for now, and when it closes we'll be here. If you don't like having to work with other people, why are you on a multiplayer game anyways? It makes ZERO sense.
Next, we need to do better than this, there are bugs, glitches, griefers, all sorts of problems that no single one person can fix, WE ALL need to work together to help the Devs, teh DM's, and Oh My God!!! the players as well to get used to their new environment.
Now that I am done with my rant, im sure im going to get a bunch of flames. If you are going to post about how you hate me, my thinking, or don't like the way i smell, please don't put that garbage up here, give to me in a PM so i can deal with it there. I hope people understand what I'm saying here, and I also hope people are willing to change, cause if we don't...whats the point of having an NS4?
alright i'm out, sorry if you are upset about what i said. If the dev's have a problem with this, I'll delete it or something.
everyone, please....wake up.

Re: Community
ATI has some very good points and I agree with all of them. Just to reinforce a few:
From my limited time playing I have experienced a good amount of teamwork going on. But if you are one of those who hate other people and just want to solo all day then don't join a faction, it's that simple. The factions are there for a reason and people within the same faction should stick together.
Also, this is still a beta and as ATI stated we should be helping to fix the problems and also provide constructive criticism. If you don't like participating in a beta environment then leave and wait for the beta to end. Nobody is holding a gun to your head.

PKing someone or geting PKed is pointless. I dont even care about geting PKed, there is no XP penalty. In fact, I could ask someone to PK me on purpose. This way i dont have to run all the way back to town to sell my loot. I just respawn in barracks. Saves me time wasted on a trip back home.

I perfectly understand why he said that. Partying with other people lowers XP yield. At the moment its not worth inviting someone just so they leech your XP. I can get 50 XP/kill solo, instead of geting 30 XP/kill in a party with somebody else. What if there are 3 people in a party? It drops to 20!
And no, synergy bonus does not offset XP losses.
And another no, fighting impossible monster for 10 mins is not worth these 150 XP it gives. Players are much better off killing 10 monsters who give only 50 XP each.

One MUST chose a faction in the Rift. There is no other way out. However, once a character is strong enough to make his/her way to one of the neutral towns, they can make that their bind point and headquarters.. Quick reply to that, the xp penalties DO apply even if you are pked. Getting pked is the same as getting killed by a mob. Respawning will incur the 50xp/lvl and 10% of gold penalty.Lothy wrote:PKing someone or geting PKed is pointless. I dont even care about geting PKed, there is no XP penalty. I have first hand experience. Respawned after Axon went on his rampage (killed me via firebrand). Got that xp penalty. Also, kurth lost 1.4k in repeated slayings. This occured in NC lands btw.

It depends if you got killed by very difficult or impossible foe "me guesses". I remember xp and gp loss as I got killed at beginning lvls by other beginners too. After that only Axon has slain me (he and his pal are certainly building an unholy alliance against them there
). And I didnt get any xp loss as he was impossible for me. Well for almost everybody.

Planetouched get the XP penalty even if they're killed by another player.
One note on teaming up: The extra people in your group allow you to explore much further for a given level before you end up getting killed.
For example, four players fight bunch of Wights and get 20 XP apiece plus five points each for partying=100 XP each.
One player gets killed by four wights 10% XP loss.
Where's the big XP hit, guys? There isn't any. This is just the old mindset. There's going to be a bunch of areas that will be *impossible* to solo.
In addition, I think that the drops may improve the more players there are in your group.
