AO Newbie Zone

Post by Draven »

Was the area surrounding Sleeth worked on while servers were down? If so the spawn rate there is still extremely slow.

Games great, but this is the number one issue with me and the other 6 people I play with.

Thanks.

In addition, PLEASE get rid of the Dragons and Disiples in town until you fix the AOE spells.

I know that they AOE when rats spawn, but the dragons are so large its often hard to get out of the way before your blasted to death.

I think that's supposed to be some of the excitement, eh? After all, AO gets RDDs and anyone can play them.

Well, you *are* supposed to just be dragon slaves afterall... what dragon gives much consideration to whether he accidently fries a non-dragon, especially if it's only a slave? Slaves are a dime a dozen...

so if slaves are a dime a dozen, why is the dragon toasting rats? surely there are better things to do..?

Actually, Followers are a step up from slaves... but one step above pond scum is only mosquito level. :p

The caste system (as far as I can tell) in AO goes, from bottom to top: slaves, Followers, Disciples, Guardian Disciples, Disciple Leaders, Dragons. There may be more layers, but I haven't spotted 'em yet.

That particular Dragon is scared silly at the prospect of disease. Therefore, if he sees a rat, he toasts it and sterilizes the entire area around it.

For reference of being able to get out of the AoE, watch the dragon and look for his fear aura to go up. If it's up, he's spotted a soon to be sterilized rat.

I love this feature.

Are things this way because AO has all of the same class-creation capabilties as LA but has the addition of a very powerful prestige class? Otherwise there would be little deterrant for everyone to want to go AO.

They're dragons... they have no respect for human life.

The Mighty Chirrem says:
"Insignificant little vermin, barely better than the rats they get fried alongside. We'd be better off without them, although they may prove useful. But not so useful that I'll go out of my way to avoid killing them."
(It's an RP thing...)

Also, those same Dragons and Disciples are there to defend the town against raiders. In Closed Beta, Sleeth was the most difficult city to take.
