question about hide

Post by DX »

hi,

sorry if this is answered somewhere but I havent been able to find anything. Is the use of true seeing or see invisible going to result in automatically seeing those in stealth??

This is a very important question, and I hope the dev team considers the option of true seeing just adding a certain bonus to spot/listen.

I don't see any reason to change it.

I'm going out on a limb and guessing that since there won't be any items with Haste for players to wear, there also won't be items with True Sight.

Therefore, only spellcasters will have access to it, meaning that hide/move silent won't be totally useless.

See Invis didn't see a stealth character anyway, did it?

It will be totally useless, hence the reason to why many servers change it.

It basically determines the power balance on the server, whether clerics will be supreme rulers or not.

Well as D&D is made so that only Spellcasters can gain these benefits..however if you see a non spellcaster alone or a melee/archer party be sure that your rogue will deal out plenty of dmg.True Sight is a powerful spell and someone who picks up a Cleric maybe wants to have this advantage...you cant rip out this advantage off a char...just depower it maybe..

True Sseeing is supposed to let you see magically concealed things.
Hide/Move Silent shouldn't be affected by True Seeing technically...

actually DX we all know mages are the supreme rulers in D&D..theres nothing we can do this "class" is made to rule all...adding to pale masters now mages are just invincible..but clerics are more deadly in necromantic spells thats for sure..most powerful necromancers are clerics (harm etc)

I haven't played 3E much... but I know there used to be, in 1E ad&d, a stone of true seeing. Has that been dropped from the game ?

mages and clerics will still be the most powerful, even if true seeing would "only" give a certain bonus to spot/listen. Well-built clerics will be able to spot them most of the time anyway, but at least there's *a chance* of escape.

And like someone pointed out, if we go by the rulebooks, true seeing isn't supposed to uncover mundane hiding.

Leaving true-seeing the way it is would be make the PW very one-dimensional IMO.
