Sure that made alot of people smile. Nowhere in the commandments did I see the it was agaist the rules to attack somone in Dark Forest. Chase , in a very rude fasion sugjested I read the rules though i'm having a hard time finding where it is stated what I did was wrong. Maybe its not on a sticky somewhere. In that case I would like to see one added that states what is /isn't allowed. Or maybe Chase expects everyone to comb through the forums and read ever post ever made.
BTW Chase , a freindly warning would have worked alot better than the rude one. I don't react well to rudness .. and i'm sure most people don't as well.

Fine its in many threads but not on a sticky anywhere in plain sight. Trying to inforce rules that only the deticated forum reader whom reads every post will
cause problems in the long run. I just hope that this topic is help to all those people who don't have the time to read every post ever written.

as much as i hate to AGAIN agree with nom and trent ( FoN SUXORS!!!!!)
there right. We should have at least a sticky thread about the rules. Mabey a permanent bounderies and a sigh that says something like "WARNING by passing this point you might be hunted"
This would lessen the confusing and banning of people who seriously didnt know.
Also make some rules.
Some punk lobie ran across the bounbries and attacked me. When i almost killed him he ran. Rested then did it again. I think if someone innitiates combat then runs it should be allowed to persue them, BUT if someone gets killed on accident then REZZING them should be a must to show your sorry and didnt mean to pk them
Just a thought.....

YEAH! I have to agree as well....
There are a handful of unwritten rules that some people know, but most don't that definately SHOULD be in plain site on this site, not buried in a thread somewhere.
Avendel is obviously non-PvP because most attacks you make (accidental clicks sometimes!!!) do -0- damage... so what's the point of booting people that attack in the first place? Is it so one day, the non-pvp script will be deactivated?
I abide by the in-view of the gates law, but only because I happened to be on one day when there were stones laid out. I think the rule (if it ever shows up as a sticky) should be - no attacking IN Avendel OR 1 map away from Avendel (ie: ALL of the dark forest and ALL of the silver road: Avendel) Possibly posting signs to this effect, IN-game, as well as a sticky on the main rules or in the existing commandments one...

Actually, this could be a productive point of community involvement to help everyone out: if you can think of a rule that is commonly enforced but not posted, please add it here so we can update the documentation... Lord knows, I don't think it's fair for me as a DM to punish people for rules that they don't know about.

Glad you added that Chase ... Maybe your people skills need work .. threating people with banage on first offence of a crime they didn't even know was agaist server rules? You could have explained to me it was agaist the rules and I would have been happy to comply but too act like that was indeed rude. A link to where you stated that this was a written rule would have been nice as well cause I even did a search in forum and found nothing.
If you are trying to drive people away from the mod Chase then you're doing a bang up job ....
And the first time was way on the other side of the map btw .. guess thats agaist the rules as well ...

1) Do not mention existance of secret rules.Yonwe wrote:Actually, this could be a productive point of community involvement to help everyone out: if you can think of a rule that is commonly enforced but not posted, please add it here so we can update the documentation... 2) Do not auto-attack in avendell.
Would be two good additions.
It would also be nice to be defended by these rules instead of being punished with them all of the time.trent wrote:threating people with banage on first offence of a crime they didn't even know was agaist server rules? IE: i was bigbied right outside avendell by kromix, and only made it inside avendell near death (#$%#$^ to any one who says bigbys is impossible to escape. my mage can do it.)
im sure its safe to say i am the ONLY person to be deleveled for casting a non-damage spell in avendell.

as a resident n00b and someone who had nothing to do with the above altercation:
I agree with trent and terminal. I have been attacked inside ave by new players, and the other day one tried to keep anyone rom leaving ave via the silver road. these players werent doing anything that they thought were wrong; they didnt know the rules. just add boundaries to the commandments and alot of confusion will go away.

Or, do what every other module has done, and what ns itself has always done without problem, and allow it.
I'll say it again... making rules like these is only going to CAUSE problems, not prevent them.
Instead of having all the fun that we used to have back in the days of Okies, Slaves, etc... by taking over the Dark Forrest, we now get bans, threats, etc... Next rule is going to be 'you cant attack anyone near a transition' and im sure it wont appear anywhere but the tell before you are banned too.=
DMs are there to moderate things arnt they?
IE, you see someone getting PKed over and over outside ave, just port him past the enemys?
Or, you spawn something for that player to actualy DO... it is obvious that he's bored enough as it is, instead of running around banning people, why not actualy give something for him to do... I remember fighting Draco Mortis, the Ice Efreet boss, even G1! i havent seen anything like that in months...
Why not spawn an "Avendell Marshel" or something, that would appear to come out of avendell to protect people when they are attacked... He doesn have to be impossible, just really hard, hard enough to devert attention away from the lowbie anyways...
If the lowbie doesnt like it, he can shout for help! Let other players help him out.
Or, take the other exit!
Instead of banning and punishing people manualy for attacking in avendell, why not opne up avendell completly again?
Have any of you ever played Baldurs Gate II? Remember the part where Imoen is taken away by mages to a dungeon? Why not script up avendell like that? where the instant you attack, several guardians portal in and ether kill you, or take you far away? I think it would avoid A LOT OF PROBLEMS

I agree, DMs need to cut down on the PK restrictions. I know it might send a few noob players away, but you created the server with opposing factions and all the hostile. And was it a permanent ban? I hope not, I miss you killing me (not joking, I leveled my midget up to level 29 trying to get high enough for revenge
).

If I got perma banned for that crap then so be it .. I wouldn't wanna play here if thats how the DM's wanna be anyway .. I though the DM's job was to keep the fairness and make the mod fun . not act like jerks on a power trip. If Chase needs that extra boost to his ego then fine ... I was glad to help.
