Dropped vs Crafted ?

Post by KST_HAVOK »

I was wondering if the dropped items were better that some crafted ones also if crafted ones are better i would gladly pay a pretty penny for some higher level fighter gear

From what I remember the armor has 15/- damage resist which is better then anything dropped but, no regen no elemental resist so it’s a big tradeoff. As well as plenty of armors have other goodies, bonus on saves certain skill increases, etc. there is no MA for arcane yet. Tailoring has a couple nice things the bracers +6str +5ac I think and some decent boots for hide, although you loose ac overall since no dodge bonus.

There is another thread around where people are talking about adding something more for crafted items. Adding elemtal damage to weapons, etc…

For the most part, the dropped items tend to be better than the crafted stuff. There's a few crafted items here and there that are good, but they're all MA items.

MA arcance crafting items were implemented, but they've been disabled for now, from what I've heard.

Tailoring has the best gloves overall except for monks who like fisting it.
It also has a great cape for cha based characters and taunters.

Take a few points in UMD and MA Arcane is the best craft by far.

Like I said, there's a few MA items here and there that are worth it.

Which is probably why the MA arcane is disabled. Perhaps the items (except the amulets) could be tweaked to require a certain number of ranks in Spellcraft to be used so that only more dedicated casters can use them rather than people who take a level of rogue or bard and dump a bunch of points into UMD.

Yeah! Re-enable MA arcane crafting please!! The very thought of those items make me foam at the mouth .

And, I have to disagree with you about making them mage-only, doesn't that kind of nullify the UMD skill completely?! I though NS4 was all about making spells and skills actually USEFUL, [therefore making FULL use of the hard work bioware did to create the game] unlike so many of the teen-oriented uber servers where about 3 spells are actually useful and you can have a full set of immunities just with items.

lol, they are already only useable by bard, sorcerer, and wizard. UMD isn't something that can really be locked out like that.

MA Arcane isn't disabled as far as I know. My crafter can still do it.
Just made a staff 1 min ago.
I have him so stocked up with wands, staves, and amulets... It could be a very lucrative venture...

I didn't say make them mage only. I said require ranks of Spellcraft to be able to activate the higher level items (some of which are quite good). This would help to avoid the typical NWN cheese of someone taking 1 level of bard or rogue to dump enough points into UMD to use wands and the like. Especially the 1 level bard rdd tank builds. Most players would still be able to use the wand with the right build, but it would be easier for the more dedicated casters to use them, which is more balanced in the long run.

The best warrior/bard/rdd builds use atleast 16 levels of bard anyway... Not making use of the bard song is just plain duhm...

lol well shows you what I know about arcane crafting :P and certainly! My bard/ftr/rdd wouldn't be quite as strong without bard spells and song...

But, DEVS please bring back Shiv' and MA arcane crafting asap... it's not quite fair that some people have the MA crafters already and nobody newer can, same with Shiv's jewelry :)

The point of a warrior/bard/rdd is not spell casting, diverting resources to attain such abilities dilutes the overall strength of the build.

I think bards can only get as far as Artisan in Arcane crafting.

I noticed some new armor drops that surpass the ma armor crafting (same resistance but some nice goodies on top of it), although i imagine its a low priority i figured i would ask anyway if there are plans to boost the armor that can be crafted?

if you havent seen em then i wont spoil it or tell ya where they are

Yes... our to-do-list is pretty extensive right now, but plans are being made for the future
