do the Drow dare show their faces?

Post by Gil-Este »

I know that in PnP there is a feat called Sunlight Adaptation (or something close to that) that allows drow to actually function in sunlight for an extended period of time. Are there going to be penalties for drow who are above ground, and if so, what if anything will they be allowed to do to counteract the sun's effect.

From the entry on the Drow:

"Light Sensitivity: -2 to all attack rolls, saves, and checks in brightly lit areas. Exposure to bright light, natural or magical, blinds the Drow for one round."

Drow can naturally create darkness, but not unlimited, and it doesn't move with them, so they will have to be careful when in the Sunlit World.

Actually, we've modified the Drow darkness ability so it is able to be cast on an object. The field of darkness will move around with that object, as well. While it's not "supposed" to work that way, we thought it would be a neat feature.

I am currently a drow and I cast my darkness spell on an item I had in my inventory and it didnt seem to work at all. I asked the person I was teaming with if the screen had gotten dark and they stated that they didnt see any difference. Is this working as intended or perhaps a bug?

Yes conjuring a globe of darkness over someone's head is somethin Drizzt does. He also conjures them in front of people who are charging at him to confuse them (I expect both would work in NS). Just bare in mind that not even drow infravision can see through it.

yeah, using darkness without ultravision and expecting to be able to fight in it is kinda a daft thing to do... when your at a low level, darkness is more for running away than anything else.

i find at low levels darkness is good for this:
im wandering, 3 mele mobs and 2 ranged mobs come upon me, i cast darkness on the ranged mobs, they are o longer shooting me, so i cna concentrate on the mele types.
