Fletching

Post by Flailer »

I have a 17th level 4 Fig/4 Wiz/ 9 Arcane Archer. I'm persuing my Artisian level of crafting in Fletching (I'm a master craftman right now).

I currently have 8066 points in my tradeskill - shouldn't I be eligable to advance to Artisian now? The sign says 4000 Min/8000 Max points to advance from level 4 to level 5 and a minimum level of 15. So, I think I should qualify unless there's something about having 3 classes in my build...

Thanks

You will need 15 AA levels, its not your overall level.

I think someone else can get to it a bit more quickly than I can, seeing that I'll need to be around level 31-33 before I'll get 19 levels of AA under my belt. :(

mm, just checked the ''tradeskill'' page, so if i go 15lvls ranger first i can get that; i'm planning (if things will be straightend up) on making a character first 21 lvls ranger (for the crafting and being an epic rgr), than 1 or 2 sd, there after i don't know, going further ranger or take some rog or mnk classes. Once i go SD after those 21 lvls, will i loose my caftingskills to 3rth lvl, or do i keep them on the max lvl?

Fastest way would be restarting and going 19 ranger.

Once you take a disallowed class such as SD, you will no longer be able to craft beyond 3rd level.

Not true - once you take a class like SD you can't *advance* further in your crafting skills, but you don't lose the ability to craft MA items once you take a class like SD if you already had it...

So my planned rogue 30/fighter 5/SD 5 won't be able to tailor higher than 3rd lvl? (I took ftr on lvl 2). It is better to be able craft at the highest lvl you've reached and not advance rather than losing lvls, but I think that's still kind of rough.

As an alternative, how about subtracting your non-qualifying class levels (in this case, the 5 lvls of fighter and the 5 lvls of SD) from your qualifying-class lvls? In this case, I'd need 10 more lvls of rogue than usual to attain a certain crafting class. That would also take a long time, but it would make it possible.

since you have the 30 rogue, just do 19 rogue first and get your Master Artisan, then do the rest of the levels.

There are only a few classes that can afford to single-class so much. Yes, it is technically possible to take 19 straight rogue levels for crafting, but there are a bunch of reasons not to. Mages can and do reguarly take a bunch of levels up front. Rangers and fighters might. The fact that nearly all prestige classes disqualify you (except AA, harper, and possibly PM) is a shame IMHO.
