Did I find a bug or ....???

Last night I was in the gnoll fort and had just started to fight the gnoll chief when my game screwed up and crashed. When i restarted the game and logged back on, my character was dead and my right side screen said "Someone damages Major Pain 275 points." Gnolls take a long time to do damage to Major Pain so there is no reason I should have been dead on return unless this is somekind of penalty thing for logging out during battle. This is the only reason I could think of why I would be dead after logging right back in. Anyone know if this is the case? Is there something in place that auto kills you on log in if you crash or log out during battle?

gnoll valley and gnoll cave are straight west of neversummer city and crossroads map.

My guess is that your character was in game taking damage in flatfooted land while your comp was throwing gasket/losing synch... The damage dealt is to restore your hitpoints to what they were when the server thinks you logged out.

Is there a something that looks more likely to be causing your game to freak?

This is semi-random, but I also experienced a crash in precisely the same spot, resulting in basically the same situation. I do, however, think that the gnoll chief could have damaged my char in the time it took me to relog enough to kill him, so I don't have that problem. Hmmm, is there some issue with that area, or is this coincidence?
