what is wrong with you people?!
just looking at the top bit of the first page of the forum... i count 6 posts on the topic of bitching about people PKing each other. my god people, what the hell do you think this server is based around?! i know you wouldnt catch bitching like this on Mechwarrior or AvP, so why the f**k is it happening here?? this is a full PvP server! theres a war going on for god's sake! people are supposed to get killed! if you dont like it, then go play harvest moon! or play doom and put on god mode or something! just stop bitching about how this game is supposed to be played!

The pvp wouldn't be so stressful if the people getting killed actually had a chance to win the fight. As it stands right now 90% of the pvp going on isn't actually pvp, it's epic level characters grieving sub-teen level characters.
It's high level characters killing low level characters for no other reason than to cause grief to the lower levelled character.
If someone is rated effortless, leave them alone. PK'ing them is only grieving, not rp or whatever you want to call it.
Now, if they are the ones to attack you, then by all means put them in their place. But, if they aren't bugging you and just trying to level, leave them alone.

well they are either going to continue to complain about it or leave the server. pretty soon, if the griefing isnt put into check, youre going to have the same group of players scaring off all new players, and im sure killing the same 10 people day in day out has to get boring eventually.
it wont matter one lick what kind of job system or party synergy or other tricks the devs put in, the point that matters is that no one is gonna stay on a server very long if the high level people greif the new people without restriction.
this is a forum for the players to provide feedback and discussion and if theres a lot of feedback about griefing...well then maybe its time to look at the kind of players on this server, and what kind of behavior is acceptable.

You know, ever since some Wired article poped out, this "griefing" term sure is getting tossed around everywhere.
Let's make something clear here. Most, if not all, of this so-called "griefing" is happening in the same areas. There isn't any mention of the random PKing near faction homes. On occasion you'll hear about the PK in avendell or over in Mirk... but sheesh people. If you hear people saying they have Giant Mt., expect trouble around there. Get paranoid, travel in groups, or... here's the big one... ready? ready? wait for it.... EXPLORE!
Now, please don't take that as... If you don't like it, leave! That's not how it is meant. It means... explore a little and you may find areas that are appealing to you as a character, and not inhabited by people who's characters have gotten so high that they're bored just waiting for new content.
Here's something else to consider... and yeah, it has been said that this is a beta of a mod, not the complete mod. But I'm not excusing the fact that it's beta, only calling attention to it... and by that I mean that as the beta progresses, and the hardware is stabilized, and new, high-level areas are added, this whole "griefing" thing will most likely become a non-issue.
Now, if people are to set in their instant-gratification-i-need-everything-done-at-microwave-speed-mentality, then all that I've said won't mean squat. The people that love complaining about other characters' behavior, and other players' actions will ALWAYS be complaining about everybody else. The fact remains that this mod was created with the intention that PvP and High-Level vs. Low-level would create an added sense of tension in the mod, keep you on your toes, and generally offer a unique experience. Instant gratification won't speed the mod into store shelves near you. These devs have lives outside of NS (I hope) and as such we have no right to expect that new content will be added every day, week, month, year.
If you truly like the mod, and want to get to know more... but can't stand what some people label "griefing" I'll suggest trying different times in the day, or make visits twice or three times a week, or make a character in a separate faction, explore a different area, group up and try to not die... Solutions are there if people want to take them. But I suspect these victims would rather post that they got slaughtered than consider a different option.
In closing, I'd like to remind everyone that this is IN FACT a game. Gold and exp in the game are not real gold, nor real exp. If something happens in the game... there is no "Load Save Game" button so the best thing to do is to get over something once it happens.
Oh yeah, and watch out for spell casters on a rampage, if you're "just watching the duel" you're liable to get dragged into it

Here's my 2 cents worth. I dont really have a problem with the whole pk thing. Makes the game more interesting. When i first started playing ns4 I didnt like the pk thing but the more i played the more it didnt bother me and now its just a part of the game. I dont usually attack someone unless I'm attacked first but if I'm attacked and killed by another player, so be it. No big deal. The only thing I think is totally immoral or un-honorable is camping a spawning point for new characters and then killing them as soon as they log in. Thats pretty moronic and pointless. Still, I think the whole pvp thing adds to the game. Enemies are just that-enemies!! Call for help from your fellow faction members. Sound the alarm. Put together a war party. GET INTO THE GAME!! Stop crying about it. There are plenty of other mods out there that dont have pvp. And if I sound like I'm saying love it or leave it, well....... I am. Not in a vicious way, but logically. Why would you continue to try to play a mod that has rules you dont like when you have so many to choose from.
Thats my soap box opera for the day! Peace and see ya'z in the game.

Just because an epic character kills a lower level character(lowbie to mid teens) does not constitute as greifing. Greifing is the repetitive harassment of one player to another, whether through tells or pvp. Killing a person's character one time is NOT greifing. Usually when I happen to kill a lowbie its because of an accident, they are purposefully in my way, or they attack me.(Ninja looting is also a reason)

We all get killed by other people during our stay here, some more than others. Many people have given advice on how to avoid getting pvped. If you don't want to pvp go to another server where they don't allow it. If you are on this server, it is assumed that you have no problems with pvp and are willing to accept the risks of playing on a full pvp server. Comon people! Stop complaining about it whenever you get killed by another person. I've been killed more times than I can count, and I think it adds to the experience I've been having on this server. Keep it up Devs and DMs this is a kick butt server!!

IMO the server is doing just fine, killing effies shouldn't be restricted, just looked down upon, sure there's times when something bad happened in RL or if you're an okie and you're looking to take your anger out on the first thing that moves, but you still shouldn't really be penalized for doing what the module wants you to do

i really think the answer should be in game policing by people who want to. if there are a few people that consistently grief, there should be a few people who spend the time to get to higher levels then decide that griefing isn't cool, and bitchslap (or at least occupy) the griefers. i tried to get this idea off the ground about a month ago but do to large levels of laziness and procrastination (hey it was finals what do you expect) it never happened. so if anyone is interested *again* tell me.

Ok I have not played in a while but unless something has changed in the last month or 2 but I think the answer to the greifing problem is simple. Give the High level players a place to go and they will not get bored and bother the lower level players as much. Sure it will still happen but not as much.
In NS 3 once you reached 15th level or higher you would for the most part conglomerate around cloud city with the rest of the higher levels. It seems that in NS4 there is not a clear enough distinction of areas for higher lvls and lower lvls. So until the devs get more high level and epic lvl areas in for the PCs then it is gonna stay the way it is.

Ya Finals Sucked.... GPA... PAINFUL! woot for summer....
Any way.... seriously people... I'm sure we all remember the days of Axiom in the NC... I cared for about 30 minutes (maybe longer ^_^) but really, now I truly respect Axiom for the chars awesome potential and ability to gain lvls sooo utterly fast.
People like that in my opion (coming from a military family, Martial arts background, and my dad being the hardest SOB on the planet in terms of learning respect and honor) are truly above the rest... I think something along the lines of 'Mess with the Best die like the rest' comes to mind... any way what I am saying is... stay the heck away from these people unless you are on good terms (but still expect to be PKed). Now I know a lot of people are made at the Okies, Termie, Matex, Slaves, Mod, etc but really these people are my best source of income... I am a Raise Dead Scroll Merchant and I love the fact that selling 1x10 raise dead scrolls at 10k GP I can make 2 or three million a weekend.
There was a lot of talk when this sucker first went open beta about the economy... there are forces supply and demand (common you highschool ninnies its econ 101) there are price hicks and 'no suck thing as a free lunch.' My Chars currently sell Armor, Fletching, Scrolls, Pot.s these people who are out there PKing are not only some of my best custemers (because the almost always raise the people they kill.... sorry Term still working on your order) and they always need them for each other when the masses gang up on them.... Any way I could talk about this forever... so I'll stop here and go ingame... Ciao

Am I really as ugly as Father Kurth? %#$&
Hello everyone,
I am new the the boards and Neversummer but not NWN or online play.
The other day I was with a group and my character was at that time level 8. I think the group of 4 or 5 were all level 8 to 11. I am not sure where we were because I'm new and not great with directions.
Our party, except for one, was killed by a high level character (not an Okie, already met them also). Now I was raised by my one remaining party member and we took off. Everyone else had respawned so it was only the 2 of us now. We got over about 2 zones and our invisibility ran out so we had to fight. While we were in this fight the SAME character that had just wiped us out showed up. Lucky for us he got stuck in a fight and we just ran and left everything to try and slow him down. A few more zones and we are in another small fight when this guy shows up again! He waits for us to finish the fight then kills the guy with me (well he thought he was dead but he knocked him down at near death and then came after me). I ran and he tried to get me with a bow but wasn't fast enough. Luckily both of us made it into Avendell alive.
Don't you think that if a character is strong enough to take out a party of 5 he should just leave them alone? We never provoked him. I mean this guy killed me once and chased me 6 or 7 zones to try and kill me again. I know it's PVP and yes I do like having that fear of getting mauled but 2 times from the same high level in less than 10 minutes!
Just wanted to share a new persons experience with you all. I am not complaining though, it all motivates me to gain levels.
