NeverSummer Location in relation to the rest of the world?

Hello! {waves}, Can someone explain to me the location of Neversummer? Is it based on a real location within Faerum/Toril? or did someone just make it up.

I want to say Neversummer is it's own campaign, in another world, not connected to the Forgotten Realms, but using the same gods. I thought there was some background somewhere, but I can't find a link to it at present.

The intro sequence when you create your first character will give you some insight...
