leave disarm alone!
god damnit if you just want to gimp out every bloody ability that gives anyone any kind of advantage you are going to be left with a crappy game where everyone is equal to every class. Why not just skip the PvP battles while you are at it? roll a d10. 10 or less person A wins, greater, person B wins.
If you get rid of all these "overpowered" abilitys then that is all you will have. a boring, tacticless, hack-n-slash game.
At that point, it will be worse then NS3... where its all about char build and nothing to do with ability.
Getting disarmed sucks. So does Getting killed. Get over it. carry backup weapons.

I have never used the disarm feat as my PC's normaly don't have enough spare feats to spare. That being said, I think that Disarm is a legitimate feat. As others have said, you get disarmed because someone decided to pick up that hard earned feat, which none of us have enough of, and use it to his advantage...Bravo! And on disarm it should do exactly that, disarm the foe, knocking the weapon to the ground. I'm a cop, I run into a bad guy wielding a baseball bat threatening to kill me, If i don't get my head bashed in my first priority is to get the bat away from this guy, if i do succeed in getting that bat from him, im not going to gingerly place the bat in his belt or backpack; im picking that thing up so he can't use it again and he's not getting it back!
Now, for games sake and to keep things civil as none of us are really going to get killed here; once the fight is over, win or lose, I personally would give the weapon back. Ive proved my point, or the enemy has proven his, and now we are back to the game. I know the frustration of playing hours, nay, weeks, in order to achieve the proper level, materials, gold, or quest to get that Uber sword and to just lose it in one fight really sucks. So, it's kind of a respect thing you know, that whole "do unto others..."
Should disarm be nerfed? No. Should the weapon be placed back into the foe's inventory? Nah. Should the weapon be given back after the fight is over? Yea, why not? Maybe with a little verbal bashing and 'dissin'
But that's part of PvP as well. "I owned you, maybe you should invest some skill points in Discipline" etc.
The previous poster is right; realizing that the PW, servers, and time put into making NS4 was not my own I would ask to please, don't nerf any more than you have to.

Are you serious? Disarm would be pretty much worthless if the weapon didnt drop onto the ground. I dont see a problem with it at all. If someones being a real asshole and they attack me and i disarm them... im keeping the weapon. Nerfing disarm would SUCK it would just make fighters even weaker then they are now in comparison to spellcasters.
When im fighting someone i know that can disarm i use a less effective crappy weapon that i can replace easier. Nerfing fighters skills and feats would further increase the problem of pretty much 80% of the population of NS4 being spellcasters!

Just because clerics and mages currently rock doesn't mean that fighters should be further gimped. There are threads around here, clerics are soon to be on the gimp chopping block and you know that mages will quickly follow if that is the case. Limited numbers of buffs, reduced durations on your spells, etc. The gimping really needs to stop or every character will be homogenous and boring.
Disarm is disarm... the weapon is thrown from your opponent's hands. It does not go flying from his hands into its sheath, or into his backpack, it gets thrown to the ground. It is a fair feat any way you look at it. It can be easily countered with discipline or by not using your most uberest weapon in every scrap or by staying out of range... if the person doing the disarm doesn't take improved disarm he invokes an attack of opportunity when he attempts the disarm too.
Everytime I see this kind of whine it bothers me more. My builds have weaknesses and so do everybody else's. That is part of the game. Just because someone else's build happens to have a strength that your build doesn't does not mean that it is time to cry for gimping. It is time to either rethink your build or live with it.

I thought disarm was supposed to be something like a 90% chance that it goes back into the wielders inventory. I'd rather the person who lost the weapon would have to put their weapons back into quickslots and all, thus making them take a bit of time to re-equip the lost item, but disarm stealing is really annoying, and does happen.

Nope, doesn't work that way (at least not in PvM.) Disarm goes to the ground (which is where it should go, imo.) If it is in your inventory and quickslotted, you just have to hit the quickslot to get the weapon reweilded and thus making another feat useless.
Disarm stealing can be annoying, but as I've said, disarm is avoidable. It should not be gimped. If you are capable of getting the weapon that is disarm stolen (and you should be if you are wielding it) then all you are out is the time to either suck up the embarassment and ask for the weapon back, or go get another one. If someone disarm steals your gear and won't return it, go kill him (or get better and then go kill him) frequently.
If we're going to sugar coat and put polystyrene bumpers in place, turn off PvP all together. Personally, I'd be fine with no PvP, but to have PvP and then gimp all of the abilities that give someone an advantage in the PvP (at the cost of other abilities) is really annoying.

Oh, I'm quite aware that it is beta. But the beta stage is where the live version is shaped. If the devs gimp disarm do you think they'll un-nerf it for the 'final' version? The beta test is where they are trying to find appropriate balance (as well as fix the errors in the customization etc.) That is why I'm so passionate about voicing my opinion when I see cries to nerf various things (Disarm, shadow dancers, etc.) I don't think these things should be nerfed until they are shown to be so overpowering that they unbalance the world.

Slave Tori, lol, you disarmed me yesterday I think in the Giant Caves...I was so pissed - it was the first time it had happened to me and I thought someone had pick-pocketed me. Anyway, luckily for me a team member found it after I returned to the level.
I thought you were a **** at the time, but you seem cool enough...I think I would do the same if I had the feats heh.
You know the bad thing though, is that again last night on my travels through the Giant Caves, ANOTHER player disarmed me (and killed me)...TWICE, and both times I lost the blade....a Tagnar's, and a Demon's Bane in fact....first time, I was left dead while the attacker legged it...second time, the same attacker disarmed me as my game froze - after I relogged, he then had the nerve to claim he usually rezzes and returns items if the player doesn't hurl abuse or log. Guess I shoulda waited round longer first time lol.
I hope you guys implement higher level areas real soon, because I can totally understand that at a certain level/hardness, the challenge/excitement of squishing critters is lost, and so player baiting is the next best thing - not so much a challenge (I've only ever been taken by a similar lvled character once), but the thrill of playing the bandit towards another character who's response is more calculated and amusing than that of an NPC must be fantastically ironic...because it's only a game right!
The most annoying this is, when you get baited, you lay there frustratingly thinking of something real witty to say, rather than "you muva f***ing c**t why'd you do that????? Go f*** yerself!!!!111", so that you don't give the impression it's more than just a game.
Come on beta, finish already...it's gone march, an' it's time for the big delete y'all!

But yeah on the topic of diarm, I disarmed you and left your weapon there, im at a point where i find almost all the weapons anyway and i realy have no reason at all to keep the weapon unless that person deserves it. Anyway, it was fun, gl guys (your gonna need it)
