Good Crafting News
It seems that now the main class, or first class is what's taken to determine your max in a tradeskill. For example, i've been at artisan crafting for awhile now as a ranger/bard(currently 23/3). And i only found out earlier that apparently taking a restrictive class restricted you even if you were mainly a class that could achieve whatever rank. So apparently the devs have changed it so that now your most lvl'd/first class is taken as that which will restrict you.

Silvery longbow: +4 atk, +4 mighty, +2d6 massive crits. After crafting this "legendary item" you have to wait 719 minutes(12hrs) until using crafting again.
I jumped right to the longbow though, so now i can't get into the crafting to check out the arrows and stuff. But i guess the other weapons are the same, and that the arrows/bolts/bullets are +2d8 of their dmg type. So not too bad, and worth it since arrows are hard to come by in a needed quantity that are good.
So i'm pretty happy now. I wish the longbow had been +5 atk +2d6 crits, and maybe even no mighty, so i could blow thru stoneskin
but oh well.
P.S. Had to travel from Melencia to li' nirarla btw, so it took awhile until i could see what could be crafted.
P.P.S. Even better news is the xp costs. It was 403 xp, and a tad over 40k in gold. So not bad at all. I'm wondering if the xp costs have been lowered for master artisan, or all of the lvls. I hope other master artisan things are comparably low priced, since paying my estimate of 250xp per 99 arrow stack would be a pain.

Thought the crafter can always use items he's made (possibly not in yet).
As designed, you need x levels in an allowed class to progress and no specifically disallowed classes. A 3 Bard/20 ranger should be ok for Master Artisan-ship as well.
Joran and I have done some cleanup/db conversions on the tradeskill code but mostly it's still the same stuff I inflicted on Draken Valane last August (try it, you'll like it--DV was severely burned out from ATS at the time). Lots of things planned, but more pressing matters first.

Just curious... has this been switched to be resolved from the other end?Lokey wrote:Thought the crafter can always use items he's made (possibly not in yet).
One of my party-mates was trying to make me a master craftsman bow last night but he was not sufficient level to wield it himself. He definitely got the "Congratulations" message when he went from craftsman to master craftsman; then when he tried to use master craftsman the option was not available to him. This was a pure class Ranger btw.
I'm curious if this was the solution to the issue of being able to make an item that you cannot wield yet.

Yeah, I was totally against all forms of crafting at first mention, but after seeing it implemented I turned around right quick. ;)Lokey wrote:Joran and I have done some cleanup/db conversions on the tradeskill code but mostly it's still the same stuff I inflicted on Draken Valane last August (try it, you'll like it--DV was severely burned out from ATS at the time). I can test it later today when I get home(isp bills overdue, so i'm at the library atm, gah...) but if not, then that'd be a major pain. Especially since most arrows aren't +anything, they're just +elemental dmg or +physical dmg, so it'd only be logical to have the +atk count towards going thru soaks. But then again, we can't have keen bows, or custom unlimited arrows, or any of that stuff, so maybe it's one more thing on the list of suck...Wobbun wrote:AndrewCarr wrote:...I wish the longbow had been +5 atk +2d6 crits, and maybe even no mighty, so i could blow thru stoneskinbut oh well
Afaik bow's attack bonus doesnt help penetrating damage reduction..
only enchantment on arrows do, unless that has been modified on this module

It's the + attack on bows that penetrates DR. There is nothing stock you can do to make arrows penetrate a given DR from any given bow.
