There, this is the thread for posts about factional unbalance.

People complain about jobs but classes & races determine the best city, not jobs. But as far jobs go, TC/SL have the best because of the skill pt increases they give.

RK – By a long shot the worst faction, NS4 is built around hiders and spotters and RK can’t have a good one of either of those. You can only use dwarf or gnome as race, which means the best races are not available. DWD is only good in pve, in pvp everyone knows you just have to make them come out of their stance.
You can build a paladin but it stinks compared to NC aasamir one. You can build a sd but it stinks compared to a SL or TC ghostwise Halfling one…that’s a difference of +14 to hide and +4 move silently. Worst of all, only one race with Keen Senses and it’s small statured. The only plus is no matter what you build here, you never have to worry about being planar turned.


AO – You can’t make paladin to fight off SL/MA and you can’t make a sd (thou a wipe or so ago, I had a sd from that faction). With dev crit coming back, to survive, the best chance here is a sorc/wiz which mean the so called OP job tokens are useless cause you’ll cast your extend true seeing on yourself and the AB does nothing for you..only benefit your left with is AC.

NC - the best faction. They have the best melee class and the best buffer class..tis a dual loggers dream. If they got wizards and/or sorc..it’d be over, they’d own the server. There biggest drawn back is the restrictions on classes.

TC – Can build ghostwise hipsters, AA, pure ftr, pure barbarian, ect. The shifter shapes tend to be good for only a bit cause then the nerf wand comes out on ya…ask twig about his rak.

MA – Gets wiz, sorcs and pms (immune to stun, crits and sneaks). Tis an awesome faction, its draw back is you can only build so many builds there do to class restrictions. (Plz, no silly comments about this faction stinks…this where all my new toons are being built out of). PM instantly makes a lot builds out there useless against it…like my jughead & kimmie builds. *Would like to build a barbarian out of this city thou*


SL – Like TC Can build ghostwise hipsters, AA, pure ftr, pure barbarian, plus wiz, sorcs. Assassin gets better than hips in a 1 on 1…it’ll win unless a hell ball, rumble or roar gets him 1st. This is the only things that ssassins get:

Assassins Ghostly Visage is a Free Action
On Assassin level 4 they can cast True Strike 1x/day as a level 5 caster.
On Assassin level 6 they can cast Cat's Grace 1x/day as a level 15 caster.
On Assassin level 10 they get Permanent Ultravision
On Assassin level 11 they can cast Fox's Cunning 1x/day as a level 15 caster.
On Assassin level 15 they can cast Freedom of Movement 1x/day as a level 7 caster.
On Assassin level 15 the Improved Invisibility feat improves to 60% concealment.
On Assassin level 20 they can cast Clairaudience/Clairvoyance 3x/day as a level 15 caster.
On Assassin level 20 Improved Ghostly Visage - Assassin becomes Ethereal for 1rd
On Assassin level 30 Improved Ghostly Visage - Assassin becomes Ethereal for 2rds
Most importantly, when an Assassin reaches their 10th level, they are given a vial containing the venom of Lolth herself... here are the details:
1. Assassin uses poison.
2. Poison is applied to weapon in main hand (does not work on unarmed attack, ranged weapons, or bludgeoning weapons).
3. Poison will stay on weapon until a target is hit, or 1 round per Assassin level, whichever is shorter.
4. Assassin hits creature. If target is currently attacking another creature or casting a spell, the target isn't vulnerable. Target must make a fortitude save or die. DC is 5 + Assassin Level + Intelligence modifier.
DC increases by an accumulative +1 if underground, +1 if in Menzoduran, and +1 if in the Temple of Lolth. So for example, the DC is 8 + Assassin Level + Intelligence modifier in the Temple of Lolth (located in Menzoduran).
Immunity to death magic, sneak attacks, critical hits, poison, and paralysis do not help the target avoid the destructive power of Lolth's venom. However, non-living creatures are immune.
Note: regular Assassin death attack remains unchanged (its hard-coded).
5. Poison cannot be reapplied for 5 minutes or until the Assassin rests, whichever duration is shorter. Poison cannot be applied while Assassin is in combat or while a living hostile creature is nearby. Poison also cannot be applied to weapon while assassin is ethereal, and going ethereal removes the poison from an assassin's weapon.
6. Finally, Lolth is not pleased with those who use her power against her beloved.

RK - Azerbloods are planar and turnable.

NC - Almost all the best buffs get ripped from mords, which NC has no direct access to. (ie : only bard with scrolls, which they have to employ someone from another faction [non-sister] to make or just find them)

SL - The ethereal for assassin is a one-time thing.

The main problem here is that there is a huge unbalance with what has been given to certain factions,while others have been completely overlooked. When Ao finally got their jobs, they where nerf'd within a week of them coming out, and that took six to eight years. One would think if someone put six months into makng a job token that they would take into account most; if not all of the ramifications of these tokens. If prestige classes are to be ungraded then the ramifications of those upgrades should be taken into account as well. But alas it does not appear to be so. Time and time again the majority of the server has recieved excellent bonues while the smaller factions are forced to play in mass to defend or raid against them. I have seen almost every faction that i have played in numbers dwindle to almost nothing because players feel that the server favors just a few. And before the same six or seven start SPAM crying how Ao/Rk suck; and to stop whinning about the game. I would like to remind you that you are the same poeple that when La was disbanned screamed bloody murder until you got a DM/DEV to nerf the RK jobs. Jobs that had been the same since the server began where all of a sudden to overpowered. Yet even with more people playing out of Rk those tokens do not even make a dent in their emenies tokens and jobs. As amtter of fact only a handful of people even use the tokens in battle because there where and are so few people out of Rk playing to begin with at any one time !

RK prestige class is next to useless and desperatly needs to be completely overhauled to make it worthy of defending and playing. Looking at the impressive list of features avaible to the assiasns, TC/ NC/ and Ma players is it no wonder when one logs on that most anytime day or night you can count the Ao/Rk on one hand. Thank God for the Austrialians ! But they only basically come out at hours that are so late they can't even get a decent shot at an event. :(

DWD need to be more like the barbrian rage given some sort of speed and mobility boost just to make them competive with all of the "Love being shown Sl/Ma/Nc/Tc allience." Anytime you raid one faction and defeat them here comes the other half of the sandwich geared up to stop you,cause its the same people duel logged or their buddies. So saying that you're not in the same party,not together, doesn't wash when a dead man can pan the fields of garagoth road and see three Ma toons watching a Nc toon stand beside them untouched. Just pick a side, any side and stay on it ! if you're going to defend; defend aganst all enemy factions not just the ones you want to turn back,but all comers. And before one of the small brains on the server wants to tell me how my builds suck, i would remind you fighting three and four on one is not a fair account of a fair fight,but of a murdering bum rush, or a cowards attack.

This post should be highly spoken on because it address a very hot subject to anyone that loves this game and plays it regularly as many of us do. Our commitment to the game is not in question, its the Balance of power on the server. In this era of Duel, triple and Quad loggers a single player is pushed too stand their ground fighting toons that are buffed to the hilt by 40 lvl Wiz/sorc/cleric/bards while fielding an impressive number of "Blessed Melee and casting toons".Ao/Rk desperatly need to see some upgrades in order to stay in the mix on the field of battle. its time for the Staff and DEV department to dig deep and come up strong on this post.The blade of the pendulium has swung too far in one direction, and we need it to move more in the other, OR AT THE VERY LEAST TO THE MIDDLE :x

While moderately amusing, I don't really want to read the why TC/NC sucks thread next. Omigod, the description of what they do has more words!

If there's something you feel we should look at in there, make a new thread.
