Re: Grease
What is the topic of this thread so I can stay on it?
Re: Grease
How is the DC of this spell calculated?
My wizard of 33 intelligence has a dc of 25 both with a +5 int buff and without.

They nerfed grease like this so Cheeze Whiz wouldn't have "superspy 007 grease!"Xyxyili wrote:How is the DC of this spell calculated?

Re: Grease
Maybe the spell is capped at DC 25. Anyone leveling a new build that is able to cast grease and willing to post the spell's DC as you level?

Re: Grease
I noticed that spellcraft saves aren't being taken into account when affected by grease.
Is this because its a non magical spell?

Re: Grease
No its a bug in NWN AOE's like grease etc that stay there for a bit just don't take spellcraft into it.
It could be why the DC is caped.

I think it should scale with normal DC checks like every other spell.
NPCs and players in this game all have monstrous saves at 40, making most wizard save check spells worthless by that level anyway.

Re: Grease
Alright.
Not all level 40's have unbeatable saves - but - and heres the kicker, they can almost effortlessly make their characters that way. You can easily gather enough +saves items, especially including bard song, ava and such to make yourself immune to all but the highest DC casters spells, in every save category. I have done so on several of my characters with almost no sacrifice in utility.
The standard +8 spellcasting stat items, stat feats, focuses and books might be balanced out on the opposition with taking save feats (normal and epic) and stat feats/items/books. But - Saves continue to increase in epic levels, where DCs do not. Thats also why IGMS, Ice Storm, Acid arrow and Bigby are used almost exclusively by spellcasters in PvP & PVM
The Reason?: Because all but the very highest DC spells cast don't work against monsters -or- players.
Thats why I believe a grease spell that adjusts for a casters focuses would NOT be 007 stuff, but really be no more useful then any other level 1 DC based spell. Which, in reality, is not very much.

Re: Grease
The DC based on castor lvls and spell focus matters, but probably some exploiter, exploited some npc's and it got changed. Grease was fine before but some ppl find away to exploit and we all suffer. This is a pvp server not a pvm.
