Icy Crypt

Post by Lokey »

Currently trying to make this place an interesting challenge for your usual level 20 FD party.

Obviously first try overshot a bit, usual spawn killed a usual Dwarf Home spawn :) Just nerfed things a lot. I and anyone I can pressgang will work on balancing the next few days, but feedback is always nice.

(I think next is to go through the summons for the ones with too many and not working as intended abilities: i.e. the bison that howls four times and so on.)

Sorc and wizard will find the new redone guardians very difficult to handle. I might be wrong but I assume wizards and sorc will rely on fire based spells vs undead. Right now Guardians are 100% immune to fire, which is odd for undead but clerics are able to adjust spells to account for the fire immunity.

Of course AO cleric darkfire (it is fire) won't help them against Guardians. NC's coldfire will work just fine. That is assuming build choose a diety. One more reason to choose diety for darkfire which is something other than fire, I guess.

Does SL's negfire heal undead on hit or does it cause damage even though neg energy usually heals undead?

This is going to be a nice change, thanks for making another area effective for leveling. GOing to be interesting to see what happens when high-levels on their way to the nexus pass leveling parties there - I predict drama!

Awesome, the fearfull summons are handy to call in middle of fight when getting overwelmed, but not as much use before hand as they waste too much time being fearfull, scatter the enemy into more trouble and like the krenshaw for example.. keep howling at the same target till it runs out of breath.
Twig (TSS) - Twig [CLAD] - Twigs -Fury- - SyNfully Rotted Twig - Twig'lee -Down Under- - Twig'zilla

Fergus Glonshire [FoN] - Sakij Lovac [FoN] - Zatharus Rivermoon (TSS) - Bumble (TSS) - Body built for SyN

Well I went in there last night by myself at level 19 and died a quick death. The outdoor areas of Frostdale are so easy I figured I'd have a fighting chance, but it was like getting run over by a truck.

Yeah, really got to be a cleric, or beating 40 AC to have a good chance.

The CR of Frozen Gaurdians is 24 but they have Dispell save of 45 equivalent to a caster level of 34 and immune to fire. The CR might be low considering the gaurdians new found abilities.

  That makes no sense whatsoever in a lvl 20 leveling area.

Thats what happens when you pit mobs against mobs for testing...

Forgot npc spell stuff is hitdie based. Tough to get good casting and some melee ability onto the same thing without having to build some infrastructure (which I really don't want to do here). Guess they can be reworked to use monk attack schedule (even though epic dodge shouldn't be in play yet).

Noted basic skeleton had spell immunity it shouldn't have.

Also tone down melee capability of warriors. Just a bit.

(These are notes for me. I'll won't do those today, probably by early next week.)

are the floating hands (lost orders) still undead, my cure critical wounds actually healed them today.

has the unknown evil been scaled down in power now that his cr is bafflingly (its a word, i just made it up) low?? cause it really didnt seem like he was any different, no point in fighting him as he is currently.

to be honest i dont see why this place was changed, i used to lvl 20s there all the time, just needed a certain type of toon/party like everywhere else.
The truth is just an excuse for those with a lack of imagination.
