Re: Cleric Builds In NS4...
I am happy with the cleric I am building in MA right now and it is not a CoT.

As far as what to build; anything Autoquickened, regardless of whether or not you're a caster or a meleer, and you'll be happy. I suggest as a first build, go with something that multiclasses to provide you with discipline. An easy cleric race to start with, Wild Elf or Aasimar.
Have fun

Re: Cleric Builds In NS4...
You can do a DC 47 auto-quick cleric/monk and get a much better ac.
or cleric 35/anything else 5 can give give a DC 47 implode really.
Oddly enough, there is 1 other way to get a DC 48 implode with auto-quick, but the build is illegal in NS4 (Cleric 38/ranger 2 or Cleric 39/ranger 1)

Re: Cleric Builds In NS4...
For soloing; a meleer cleric might be what your looking for. Even with a melee type cleric you still want to consider your spells DC's and your spells save vs. dispell. DC's need to be pretty high to be useful in upper plane hunting grounds or in pvp. You will not want your buffs to be too easily dispelled by everyone. Keep in mind that a non focused greater dispell DC is 25, if your opponent has 25 caster levels. Your buffs counter DC is your caster level plus eleven (11) if I remember correctly. If you only have 29 levels of cleric then your save vs. dispell is 40, which means a non focused dispeller only has to roll a 16 (with a d20 roll) or more to remove your spells used to buff yourself (basically a 25% chance to remove for each buff per 1 cast of greater dispell). A cleric with 35 caster levels would have a save vs. dispell of 46, so a non focused dispeller not be able to dispell you. However Mords will still remove a cleric's AB and some other buffs (FoM, Aura vs alignment, etc. see change log). An epic focused dispeller would have a greater dispell DC of 31, so would be able to dispell buffs cast by any non-pure caster, depending on outcome of the d20 roll, but not a pure 40 level caster.
There are only so many feats available to a build, and an epic cleric only receives a bonus feat every 3rd level after 20th level. If you want a summon at your side then you will need either epic focus conj. or necro (conj. for dragon knight; necro for mummy dust). That uses up 3 feats: spell focus, greater focus and epic focus. Most spell casting builds (meleer or caster) want auto quicken 3, which uses up 4 feats (quicken, auto 1, auto 2, and auto 3). So to have a stronger summon and auto quicken 3 your using up 7 feats.
If add high DC implode on top of summon and auto quicken 3; your looking at spending 3 feats in evocation focuses, 3 feats in conj (or necro), and 4 feats for auto quicken 3: total of 10 feats. A pure cleric would have 6 bonus feats and 14 standard feats which are available to all builds, so 20 total. A 35 level cleric/ 5 level something else only has 19 total (5 bonus and the 14 standard feats).
The more you multi-class the easier it will be to dispell your buffs and the fewer feats available to the build, (unless the desired feats are included in the other class (Imp. KD on the 6th lvl of monk for example), or you add fighter levels to gain access to the bonus fighter feats on every even fighter level).
A clerics choosen domains is also very important. Travel is highly recommended so the cleric build has access to haste and freedom of movement spells. Choosen domains will impact which faction you may or may not join. So before choosing a domain review NS4 Wiki as to what domain is allowed in the faction you want to join.
Good luck

Very well covered, Elda. One clarification... you still get FOM without the travel domain, but you get it 1 level lower by taking the travel domain.
