Relic Event Poem

Post by Sneakypie »

Gorm has asked that I apply my meager skill at limericks in order to immortalize this weekend's relic event. I shall now endeavor to do so. (ahem.!)

Neversummer's soaked in red.
Stagnant pools into which we bled.
Bodies litter all the ground,
Cold silence reigns, there is no sound.

Many mighty warriors fell,
for the wargrounds were a living hell.
battles won, and battles lost
blood and pride were what it cost.

Monks there were, the fleet of foot.
Relics into cradles put.
As blasts of magic left and right
lit up the darkness of the fight.

Shadows were danced as some would disappear
While assassins worked to spread more fear
Dragon's breath and barbarian's roar..
and yet more bodies on the floor.

Healers worked to raise the dead,
but the rivers of blood still were fed.
As bards sang songs so bright and loud
To praise the warring, violent crowd.

And now in Ragnar's cave the echo fades.
Dwindling sound of clashing blades.
For now the battle lust is spent...
At least until the next event.

But there is this missing (I love it though!) ;):

Daeron stands again alone
winning for the second time
defending what is just their own
simply a team in his prime.

Effort shared with many friends
Come to help from forest home
with their shifters did they roam
from the mountains to the sands.

I actually worked pretty hard to make sure no factions were mentioned, to be honest. This is about the fun, not the game politics. I mentioned the cave only because 90% of the fighting seemed to happen in there.

Maybe each defender event should be followed with a summary/poetry contest.. like MVP we all vote on our fav and then the winner gets put into a book and added to the mod as one of the gazillion broken books we find in every corner of the land. A testamonial to all the hours of RL we sacrficed to make the event happen. Can even include at end of poem/summary a list of credits, involved DM/DEV's and the MVP winers.
Twig (TSS) - Twig [CLAD] - Twigs -Fury- - SyNfully Rotted Twig - Twig'lee -Down Under- - Twig'zilla

Fergus Glonshire [FoN] - Sakij Lovac [FoN] - Zatharus Rivermoon (TSS) - Bumble (TSS) - Body built for SyN

Quite the epic, I like how it entails the entire event in good roleplaying terms.

Also, I think half the reason this is so epic is the spontaneity behind it. Having a poetry contest might change that. Players always have the opportunity to post pieces of roleplay either in here or The Bearded Bard. Although I do like the idea of taking pieces of player-written literature and adding a book item that contains it.
