Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
Re: Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
This Event has taken on a Life all its own. Perhaps, an expansion of this Event is in order, eh?

1st... Exactly how do you know what kissing your sister feels like?Chernobyl_Glow wrote:i wish that a faction had to possess their own relic in order to score recap points off other relics. that would have made a big difference in this event so far.
rk held 5 relics for the entire 2nd heat including the NC relic. but lost due to recaps by NC of the MA relic and the TC relics. they did a great job with the recaps but it just kind of feels like kissing your sister.
good job guys - just think we should consider changing that for future events.

2nd... I completely agree, it's supposed to be "defenders of the relic" Sadly there's no real answer for the other issue, the fact that the last place team can pretty much choose who wins. RK held 5/7 relics the whole time, and seemed unbeatable, so SL/MA chose to raid NC, giving 4 extra points to NC. Whether or not that was their intent, that was what came of it.
Perhaps if relics had to be removed from the cradle and then deposited at home to count, much like what is required for regaining faction.

you don't score for capping your own relic, otherwise we wouldn't have let you have it.Rainswept wrote:1st... In order to accomplish a complete victory for the 2nd Heat, RK would have needed all 7 Relics. There would be no debate then, yes?
You all have to keep in mind, that the intent behind this Event (or any other Event) is not to make a bunch of rules, but rather to let the players play to the extreme. The Events are supposed to be fun for everyone involved. More rules for an Event does not accomplish that, and for the most part the playerbase does a fairly good job of policing each other. However, the gray areas are where the staff steps in, and we do our best to clear/clean things up.

I kiss my sister all the time, she is quite lovely and deserves a nice peck on the cheek. My mom too. Problem?Chernobyl_Glow wrote:i wish that a faction had to possess their own relic in order to score recap points off other relics. that would have made a big difference in this event so far.

I disagree with the proposed requirement about having your own relic. All the action would be over after in the first few minutes, with the first team to cap packing as many defenders in as possible. It's already a numbers game, at least a little action is encouraged this way. I'd vote for more frequent resets, even, for example, the relics are sent home every hour. That would further encourage scoring.

Re: Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
i agree with that frog. the action is right at the start but after a few minutes the writing is on the wall. i've felt like the old marathon format with regular resets would be pretty cool.
as for a "sister kiss", its a term i've heard in hockey in the event of a tie where you felt like you could have won. it kinda feels good but you know its wrong. lol. (but i haven't ever done it rain.)

Re: Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
I remember sometime back there was a suggestion that there be 2 types of events. "Defenders of the Relic" and "Relic Assault" and while I think the idea of frequent resets (and to a certain extent the splitting into 3 short heats) add some fun, they also make the assault much more important than the defense.
I would be very happy to alternate between one event with frequent resets and one that's like the old 3 day marathon that boils down to who wants it more to defend all night long.

Re: Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
Actually a good number of of NC caps is a direct result from AO/RK raiding NC at the same time SL/MA went in.. it turned into a giant blood bath with relics changing hands sever times only to be recapped by NC. The fights were some of the best, and in the end with about 20 people fighting around and in the NC headquarters the epic defenders never even got killed.
On a side note.. SL lost 3 points yesterday because factions do not get points for capping their own relic. It was pretty much a waste of time just to prevent another faction from getting one point. Great fights, but still pretty much a waste of effort.

Re: Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
Nope. The RK guys were just trying to pick up relics that were already on someones back. The only relic we pulled out of the NC cradle was the NC one, which went back to RK.Actually a good number of of NC caps is a direct result from AO/RK raiding NC at the same time SL/MA went in

Lol gratz NC you guys took a hell of a beating to start with.
As for SL/MA giving caps to NC what the hell is that about? we had no hope of getting through RK/AO not with the tiny numbers we had on so NC was our only choice to Draw RK/AO out of the hole
and oh what glorious battles we had in NC.... again WOOT NC well done indeed.
Tried so hard to make last event but 40 hours just took it toll heheh.

Re: Defenders of the relic in 3 heats
I had grate fun in this event, round 1 was almost a free for all with most factions getting some caps.
Round 2 sore the SL/MA alliance knocked out and had some of the most intents pvp I've seen. At the end of that round it was quite close between NC and RK and could have probably gone aether way.
Lastly round 3 sore NC build up a nice lead with they held on too and smacked down all who came to Daeron, even some strange naked man who ran around Daeron at the end, which was just mean killing a guy with no clothes on!

Great fun all around.

Here's an image with all of our names.

By far the largest TC/NC party I've ever been in. The names that are obscured in that are J Repent Officer [FoN] and Vera Wenfales. A few other people were there that day but had to leave before the heat ended, Dr. McNinja (Played by Gary) was there, Zersei was also there. Apologies if I forgot you.

I have always imagined that when shamed prepares for relic events, he grabs his bull horn, he finds his Napoleon hat, and he settles in for a weekend of barking orders and generally pissing off everyone in the tc/nc coalition. - Burrahobbit
