= Hiders =
A Hider is classified as any character who uses the skillz Hide and Move Silently as a primary ability. The venue will allow for Outdoor HIPS so that Rangers without SD levels can participate. It will also allow for “Corner” Hiders such as Monks, Bards or Rogues that use Line of Sight interruptions to Hide.
= Seekers =
I guess the definition of a seeker is anyone who pursues a hider. Obviously many Seekers will be spotters but it will not be required that a Seeker have the Spot skill. Listen will be fine. Even no spot or listen will be fine. A seeker will simply need to be willing to fight a Hider and have some means of doing so.
= Event Structure =
The action will be a series of 1v1 battles where a “hider” tries to defeat a “seeker”. Although the battles are 1v1 this is actually team event. Two teams involved: the Hiders and the Seekers.
Each “round” will feature one randomly selected player from each team to battle against one another. The winner of each round will earn 1 point for their team. Then two new players will then be announced. The two participants will be allowed to buff (Self Buff Only but UMD is Allowed). The 'coordinator' will give a 1 minute announcement. 10 second announcement. A count down and a “go”. The two players will duel to the death. No characters will be allowed to heal or rest. In the event of a Draw one point will be earned for the team which is or was most recently trailing in the overall standings.
= The Challenge =
Obviously, this is slanted in favor of the spotters. An SD’s strength is when he fights someone without spot and/or catches them off guard. Unfortunately, the structure of this event removes both of those advantages. We can’t really say "Hiders Welcome but No Spotters". So this will really just be a challenge to see if hiders can overcome the disadvantage of fighting people that CAN see them. But to try and level the playing field a little bit:
- - * - Self Buff Only. Thus disallowing a Div focused cleric to buff a Zen Based Arcane Archer.
- - * - No Summons. Which excludes the Solars with their Cleric buffs etc.
- - * - Outdoor venue. Thus, if you have Ranger levels you’ll enjoy the +4 Hide/MS bump for being outdoors.
- - * - Plenty of obstructions. Buildings etc litter the venue. Which will allow additional bonuses to hiders and force casters and spotters to move. Reducing their Spot while they move.
- - * - It’s a perennially dark map. Giving additional bonuses to Hiders.
= Venue =
All that makes you wonder, “Where the heck is he going to have this thing?” Well, it isn’t Avendell. Lol. The map I’m thinking of is called, “Old Town North”. I think the map will be perfect. There is a fence around a cluster of buildings. The fence will represent the boundaries of the “ring”. All onlookers will be allowed to stand outside the fence and watch. The map always has an aura of darkness. The cluster of buildings is a pretty large area. It’s larger than the arena for sure.
** To find Old Town North is very easy. Travel South from Avendell Crossing to Silver Road Elvenshire. Enter Elvenshire and take the west Exit to Fallow Downs. West of Fallow is Old Town North.

Players may sign up by reply to this thread or by PM to me. Late comers will also be allowed but please try and let me know ahead of time. Even if you are not sure that you can attend I’d rather pencil you in. This will allow me to do some organization ahead of time.
