Dragon Knight changes

Post by alasteir »

Hello,

I am submitting this post in regard to the recent changes in the 'Dragon Knight' epic feat/spell. If possible, I would request that you reconsider the dismissal of the knockdown immunity and spot bonus reduction. I realize that the developers and dm's are busy, so I will be brief in my post.....
My concerns are as follows:

-The concept of an epic summons is one of the strong points of the 'Neversummer' server.

-This will widen the gap even further between the DK epic summons in comparison to the PM and BG summons.

-The spot bonus was particularly useful.

-Neither the KD immunity or spot bonus seemed overpowered, as the DK summons had many other weaknesses....

-The DK summons was far more effective when used in conjuction with the conjuration feats, racial bonuses, and clerical domains (if applicable). This series of choices (along with the spellcraft cost) required diligence and commitment...not unlike the commitment that BGs and PMs have to to undertake, in order to secure their most useful summons.

-If the KD immunity and spot bonus are being changed, I would request that the epic focus in conjuration negate or nullify the change.

I don't want to seem petty, as this server is excellent. The devs and dms do a fantastic job!

Thank you for consideration in this matter,
alasteir

Any chance for a buff up of the death salad. They still arent as neat as the nerfed balor or solar.

If you're a pure caster, you're spot will remain the same... mine cater has 34 caster levels and his summon has 104 spot... not too shabby. I think I hit the +50 skill cap. KD immunity is cheese... you want more discipline, take more caster levels.

I'll see about fixing up the death slaad, although it does seem a bit fitting for casters who can't pick a real alignment.

Death slaad is useless imo. by the time you get it even with full conj focus feats and fullly buffed its vigor is lacking. Lol my minotaur tore one apart the other day in frostdale.

Druid are mostly neutral and have useless Slaad by their side. Considering they should be having strongest companion by their side it's really sad to see it being worst summon of all. By far. Also, I was wondering, is there any way for druid to get better dragon knight then other casters? As it is best one is one buffed by cleric, then arcane casters and last one druid.

I don't think the KD immunity is cheese. If anything, an EPIC summons should have those strengths. Sure it can suck when your toon bumps into a hostile DK, but giving the epic summons some real teeth is what gives this server its flavor. Cheese would be my dwarf fighter belly-bucking a DK into a prone position, or my rogue sneaking past one. It goes against the nature of these otherworldly beings. I would lose respect for something I always thought was really cool. Plus, it isn't like they totally dominate the server. There are plenty of areas and plenty of toons that can make quick work out of them. There are also no faction restrictions so anyone can get the feat should they decide to pursue that kind of build.

Anyway, I think reducing their effectiveness just reduces their appeal. It takes work to earn the qualifications to summon one, and they are a great challenge for those opposing one. I say keep them tough... they should be tough.
Mind what you have learned. Save you it can.

Ha, Ha, Ha
Well stated MadUkranian.........although, I do have ask. Is belly-bucking an actual feat that I can choose? Because if it is, I am going to choose it as soon as possible! I am going to have the first epic belly-bucker on the server.

An epic summon should be powerfull, and it doesnt matter to me either way. But a level 40 character designed to hide and move silently should pass by anything but a god.... A level 40 fighter should be able to knockdown a mountain, etc, etc.

Whats funny is the gate summons for any good caster (planetar) still has KD immune.

So nerf the kd immunity on the ultimate summons for any good caster, but keep it going on a lesser version.

Yep, makes sense to me

And while we're at it, since you've decided to take some "outsider benefits" off of an OUTSIDER summons, you going to remove the KD immunity from the pure pal?

Aspect of deity is only 1 round per charisma modifier, and its ability of epic character who should be stronger then a summon anyway!

thanks :D

I like my pure druids, they dont do so well without a pet that cant take a hit though (doing damage is what spells are for IMO)

unless they're built around dragon-shape.... it's annoying to try and be a caster/dragonshape due to the spellslots disappearing, but that's been that way pretty much forever.

Druids can max their wisdom out with one spell... allowing them to not lose any spells when they shift.

You still lose spells that you got from items with spell slots, like crafted amy.
