good point tho --- there are times i find spam to be a more useful topic than the endless discussions

somthing tells me tho..that there will not be a wipe , even with 1.69 comming ... and somthing else worth pointing out -- that not everyone who plays checks the forum often enough ; therefore teh result of this thread is flawed

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
I'm going to toss my 2 cents into this mix, as a player.
From my first day in NS4 "Beta" I have had PC's that were Master Artisans in all the crafts. Back then crafted gear was a valued commodity. I have kept that up throughout my time in NS4. So let me count the wipes I've been through.
#1. Vault was wiped to get rid of gear that had been changed up. That is back when character levels were restricted to a max of 25.
#2. Still in beta. PC's now are opened to 40 levels. Most of the old PC's were now non playable, vault cleaned up.
#3. NS4 coming out of beta... At that time I had taken a 6 month break to come back to an empty vault. Wipe again was to get rid of changed gear and pc's that were invalid.
From what I understand there may have been a wipe or two before my time in NS4, or that's what I have heard from some very old time players. Is it a pain, Oh yeah big time, remaking those crafters can get tiring. Is it worth it, in the end Yes. Everyone is back on an even keal. The past wipes for me was a learning process. If the vault gets wiped again, I will shed a tear... between Prime and Reflections I have tons of collected gear on mules. High level crafters in all trades and I have approximately 45 books, some +4 and it will be a sad day to see all that work collecting and leveling getting washed away.
Like all of you, I too have to trust in the Powers that Be to do what is best for NS4. Wipe or no wipe.
This much I do know....
The Patch 1.69 that we're all waiting for has some powerful changes possible contained within it. It also fixes a lot of bugs that we were stuck with. I got a copy of that patch and had a darn good look at it in tool set. The changes that are possible with it are just awesome. That goes for gear, content and types of PC builds. What I have managed to understand from the devs, there is some real neat stuff coming down the pipe. (I only understand about 1% of what they say, they speak in that dev language that is just to strange for me to understand.)
So, once again as a player, should the vault get wiped, it might be a small price to pay to see what is going to be new and exciting. Wipe or No Wipe... lets wait and see, meanwhile I for one am going to keep working on a couple of PC's. Hate to stop playing and lose time should the vault not get wiped..

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
What if the fine print for the next relic event says the winning faction ONLY gets a wipe, they obvioulsy out man the rest so should be 'balanced'
Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
thats fine... everyone let the dwarfs win ! when they are all gone ,we can steal their ALE !
and its a good point too
as far as "game on" goes --- i am "game stalled" for two reasons:
one: the possibility of the wipe
two: and totally more importantly the changes comming in 1.69 ... i intend to make a new and vastly improved series of characters ; even one build that is rumored to have the ability to summon SPAM from the heavans..... but until the crapola is done in regards to 1.69 i shall wait and twiddle my thumbs
mmm that one line has me intrigued .... << spels words wrong daliy basis >>DM_Kim wrote:

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
Ok. I have had more time to think on this...and read the posts from the dev team.
I think I will change my vote to go ahead and wipe IF IF IF :
it means some things like the AO jobs that never got finished are fixed
it means that things in general will run smoother
it means that everyone starts out on a level playing field.
Think about it, how many parties would be formed with everyone trying to get back to where they were before...no shopping for your new toon with the old high level ones, we would have to party up and go get everything from scratch.
That actually sounds fun.
Sure, I would lose a lot of work. Sure, I would lose some books and some crafters. . . but I think it might be worth it to smooth out some wrinkles while the Dev team is willing to work on ns4 still
just my SECOND two cents worth *grin*

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
so the topic of a possible wipe does not seem to be generating a lot of posts, thus the Dev team might think we don't care...
Nothing could be further from the truth - the topic is hot in game, and speculation runs rampant.
I just think that many ppl in game don't visit the forums much, if at all.
So for the masses, I must ask the question: any new news?
Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.

ok. I know the word "soon" will come up about now...
I have to say this: the NS DM and Dev team are way faster to respond to things they can do something about than any of the services I pay for like cable or utilities. "Server's Down" and in hours at the most its up.
On the other hand, Bioware, gods love em, seem to have their right foot stuck in a bucket sometimes

Nothing ya'll can do to rush the patch.
I just think that since it's going to be the last patch, let's work the dog out of it.
And on a realistic note, let's take advantage of the Dev team's willingness to work on NS 4 before all their time gets eaten up by the NS 5 Shattered Realms project. This may be a one time offer of their precious time...let's take em up on it.
Now I'm really not tryin' to pump my post count. I just really would like to see the AO jobs finished and ride a horse past NS on the Silver Road.
Heck, if they go back and finish the under construction stuff in NS 3.5 I might even go back there for vacations in Monty Haul land.
I'll hush now, I know I'm a hairy nuisance.

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
To bring you up to speed on the 1.69 patch. The dev team is on top of it. There is a mess of stuff being worked with the beta 1.69 and reworked every time that beta gets updated and a step closer to the actual release.
We have a list elsewhere that has been compiled from ideas/suggest made by players on these forums;
Ideas and suggestion made by DM's and from other devs. It's called the Things to do before1.69 goes in. Items of game play effects are discussed in other threads. As ideas are accepted they go into that TO DO List and reported when completed. You know who are Dev's and DM's are. Our numbers are "few."
That thread is 5, I'll say it again FIVE pages long of what needs doing and completed. When that 1.69 final patch is released, the dev's will check and verify what's been done to make sure there are no conflicts to cause nasty crashes etc.. Plus there is stuff that will need testing.
So keep your ideas on the forums coming and be patient. We're held up and held captive to the release of 1.69 by Bioware. You can be sure that once it is released, instead of waiting months for it to go into NS4, it will happen relatively fast, within days or a couple of weeks. Things that have been worked on, number in the hundreds. Our Dev's have been working like "slaves" (no pun intended) getting stuff done with much more yet to do. NS4 will be even more of a marvel to play in with that patch release.

Re: Polling the populace for opinions on a server wipe.
*Deep bow to Mistress Kim*
Thank you.
Why am I not surprised that Bioware is making us wait?
Also, I never had any doubts about the devotion of the Dev/DM team...your numbers may be few, but you are much loved.
*Waited with baited breath (not bated, I've been eating sushi...)

When is the anniversary date of the release Neverwinter Nights? Its getting close. I bet that’s the day 1.69 comes out of beta.
