Power Leveling, Forced Spawning
Power Leveling, Forced Spawning
I am starting to take more of a dim view on this. Some players may have noticed that all of a sudden buffs are gone, and are left to fend for themselves.
No is saying you can not buff a lowbie PC. What we are saying is take them into areas where they can handle what spawns there reasonably well if solo. Level 1 to 5 dontt belong on the Giant's Mountain. Level 6 to 9 can depending on the build. A lot can handle the mountain solo between 6 - 9 if they are good tactitions.
But a level 6 in the gnolls. That's overboard. That will cost you xp. Either on the lowbie or the one buffing or both.
On forced spawning. You never know what you might spawn on either side of the transition if caught. Whatever it is, it probably will be much more than you can handle.
Both of these mentioned here are exploits. there are no hard core rules governing then because they are exploits. Re-read what an exploit is if your not sure and what the rules say about exploits. Consider yourself lucky if all that happens is you lose a bit of xp.
Should you be on the receiving end of an unpleasant DM action and you'd like to know why.... Ask politely no matter how upset you maybe. Copping an attitude or demonstrating disrespect directed towards a DM will get you a short vacation as a warning.
You will notice that DM's are not as forgiving as they once where when it comes down to the rules and policies. We can Help you, we can Enhance you game play or we can Hinder. The call is all yours.
Thanks for listening.

How lame this is not a roleplay sever its pvp. There has been power lvling here the hole time there has been a sever. I mean what do you think the guild's are for?
As far as power lvling being an exploit by that logic the buff's them self's are exploit as thay can give an "Advantage".

An exploit is anything a player's character can do within the game or by using game mechanics in a manor that it was not designed for in their original intent, to a player's advantage or to the disadvantage of another player.
So what are you saying that buff's original intent is not to make your toon more powerful.Or that the original inten of my cleric was not to buff my lowbe's because it was. So i dont get it how it is an exploit.

Re: Power Leveling, Forced Spawning
Alright, here is where your argument falls through neil. Game mechanics were meant for one player to play the game as one character, if it was meant for the player to control multiple characters, the game would have been more under the lines of a RTS.
Now note that you admitted that an exploit includes abusing game mechanics to a player's advantage. Buffing oneself, I find, is highly advantageous. Having used Gary, I tend to give all the buffs to lowbies I see that are Blue. Granted, this happens less often since I'm from RK, I power-buff lowbies too. But when you buff yourself over and over and over again via dual-logging, you are really pushing it. Especially you're in an area that is designed for players at least 5 levels higher than you.
Tell me Giant Mountain is meant for level 4's, and then go there a way a normal player would. You know, one that doesn't depend on dual-logging to level himself. Go to the top of Giant Mountain, and kill me a Tree Smasher by yourself. Tell me how it works out, and I'll retract my argument about how using the aid of Very-High Level Characters (especially your own) abuses the game mechanics through making things possible that really shouldn't be.
The rules are here to make the game fair for everyone. I know a lot of people tend to think of this through a PvP aspect, since this is a PvP server after all, but I've partied with people who just PvM. And to me, I don't think its fair to them that someone zooms right past their level just because they have two accounts and don't feel like playing the game the way everyone else does.
Leveling, neil, is to make your toon more powerful. The original intent of your Cleric was not to buff your lowbies. It was to raise allies, buff allies, and fight enemies. If you raise your lowbies occasionally, thats fine too. But when you start babysitting yourself, you need to re-analyze if you're actually here to play the game, or just find new ways of irritating the DMs by constantly playing in the gray area.
Keep arguing a point you know isn't right, tell me how it works out for you.

How is buffing a lowbie an exploit?
If the buffs carry you through then I say fine.
If there is going to be issues with certain characters in certain areas then some protocol needs to be implemented like the one done concerning FD.
Make the transitions level restricted. Problem solved, but then the server just got a whole lot smaller then didn't it.
Powerleveling has been here since day one...and now there is a problem?
So much for Druids and stonehold with the call lightning.

Re: Power Leveling, Forced Spawning
Hey, why don't we start worrying about the shifter crashes and the complete server grief it causes (I know linux has worked on it, and much kudos to him) ? I think that is a greater issue for some reason more so than power leveling toons. When I was partied with a low level group this evening one of my party members lost 4 levels due to some shifter crashing the server and the DM on at the time is worried more about power leveling??? On top of that every time a toon goes into negatives and recovers they experience a transition death after. Can this be fixed??? Sorry, but I see more important issues that need to be dealt with currently over power leveling. Come on DM's, get your priorities straight. This was my first night back to NS4 after more than 2 months and it reminded me why I left to begin with.
Sorry, but power leveling is at the very bottom of the issues I see that need to be dealt with on the server folks.

Re: Power Leveling, Forced Spawning
It seems like a kind of no harm/no foul thing to me, but if that's the rule, thats the rule. I dual log to power level quite often, guess I won't now. (I can barely handle one toon for except for buffing; never could figure how folks could handle two or more for normal play) Didn't realize it was a problem, as long as the server wasn't full.

Well you evil folks from NC just can't be blamed so you are allowed to do as you wish. You must compensate for your shortcomings somehow.frogofpeace wrote:It seems like a kind of no harm/no foul thing to me, but if that's the rule, thats the rule.
