Impending Forums Move

Look for the location (URL) of the NS4 forums to move next saturday May 27th. The NS3 migration has already been completed to the new website structure and the database migration went like a dream.

The new location for the NS4 forums is already up and running, however I have it turned off at the moment while install all the mods that the NS4 forums are running, and then do a final database migration.

This was bound to happen eventually. Since this site was launched there has been no restructure and to be honest, we have grown alot since then. Since 2002 if we have needed to add a section we have done so, with no real thought to structure. This had brought us to 6 seperate databases and a backend configuration that escher would have problems following. The multiple hacks that we have weathered has also done us no favors, so it was decided that it was time to revamp a few things and "freshen up" the file structure.

Hopefully this new configuration will hold us for another 4 or 5 years. Now if the same could be said for the game servers we would be in good shape.

The migration will take less than an hour once the swap over begins. The main website and redirects will be in place when it happens.

I have spotted a glitch in the php code for the 3.5 forums. This weekend after I finish the NS4 forums and database migration I will be going back into the 3.5 files and doing a few fixes. This should be invisible to everyone and I dont intend to shut the forums down while I do this.

Please remember though, if you start having problems logging into the forums again, clear your browser cache and cookies, then try and log in again.

OK, Forums migration went without any big snags. I still have some odds and ends to get done, and resynch the attachments and uploads that were made before. All the information is there still, but I dont have it attached to the forums, look for that to happen over the rest of this 3 day weekend.
