For some of us, myself included, there seems to be a DNS issue somewhere that is blocking access not only to irc.gamesurge.net but to the website as well.
If someone could get a list of the other servers in the gamesurge irc network and post it here it would be appreciated.
Gamesurge
I would but this DNS issue wont let me get there.

irc.gamesurge.net is set up as a roundrobbin, it doesnt have any one IP... it more or less randomly resolves to the IP of one of the real servers:
Burstfire.UK.EU.GameSurge.net (195.68.206.250)
Geneva.CH.EU.GameSurge.net (217.169.140.243)
Icarus.OH.US.GameSurge.net (216.226.129.210)
Ikari.WA.AU.GameSurge.Net (202.72.134.250)
Kanzi.CA.US.GameSurge.Net (216.218.206.41)
Lausanne.CH.EU.GameSurge.net (216.218.206.41)
Netfire.TX.US.GameSurge.Net (69.12.31.52)
Olya.NY.US.GameSurge.net (66.199.237.250)
Prothid.CA.US.GameSurge.Net (64.71.165.201)
Reflex.UK.EU.GameSurge.net (195.177.244.62)
Slim.NY.US.GameSurge.Net (216.179.62.106)
Tukikohta.FI.EU.GameSurge.Net (193.65.45.194)
Vigilance.CA.US.GameSurge.net (69.19.152.245)
I find the most stable is Slim and Netfire. Vigilance is prety nice too...
GameSurge was under attack from a large scale DDoS a few days ago so if you couldent get on that is probably why.
(Geek Rant: DDoS attacks like that are caused by people not updating their windows machines to patch exploits. Crackers will spread worms that infect these unpatched computers and then they can use them to attack servers, spam emails, anything they want. If you dont keep your OS patched then you shouldent be on the internet.)
And about the DNS stuff...

Stupid Corporate Firewall
Now if only I could connect to IRC through this damned corporate firewall I'd be happy.
If I can't be PLAYING NS4 while at work, I'd at least like to be TALKING about it. At least I can access this forum... until they drop the surf control hammer.

Re: Neversummer IRC channel
Anyone have trouble getting through to the IRC channel from work or anything?
New web based chat client that's supposed to pass through port 80 that most folks should be able to use if there's interest
http://www.gamesurge.net/chat
We could replace the link from the Java one at the top of the page to this one.

Re: Neversummer IRC channel
Uh, finally got around to putting the params together to get the Mibit IRC client to work.
If interested in using this instead of the Java one, try this one:
https://www.mibbit.com/chat/?server=web ... ck=NSMibit

I use PircH IRC client. At this addy there are several IRC clients for you to choose from.
How well PircH will work in Vista I don't know. I do know that iot works very well on any system using Fat or Fat32 file system and this includes Win 9x, ME, Win 2K, Win XP.
Set-up.
Install PircH and run.
Hit Login tab.
When Server Connection opens fill in the following:
IRC Network = irc.gamesurge.net
Server = irc.gamesurge.net
Personal Information: Name; any name you wish
Username: leave the pirch defualt e_mail addy
Logon Nick Names: fill in the blanks with whatever.....
Then once those slots are filled in, hit Save Profile. The pop-up will say pirch98.INI click on yes.
Then hit connect. The server screen will open as it makes the connection then in the convo line type "/join neversummer" (without quotations)
or "/join #neversummer" (without quotations) which ever one works for you.
That's the long and short of it. As for other commands or IRC servers.. they are there for you to explore.
